Which method the best for travelling in China? Using TNG(Alipay) or Wise? If using Wise, should I convert from RM to Yuan first now or just using RM?.

Visa card widely accepted?
If want to use card, go to Bank of China (Malaysia) to get a Greatwall Unionpay card

Don’t think visa/master that widely used except in bigger establishments. Just wondering if Wise exchange rates better than Tng/Alipay since consensus is Wise is better if it can be used in China

nauticat99 if withdraw ringgit from wise to bank account, then yes. RM1.60 i think (not double checking bcos i know of a loophole)

to bypass the fee, you topup to your bigpay/tng ewallet, then cashout

Thanks! Great tips

has anyone used Wise in sydney before? is it viable to use Wise mobile all the way for purchases? (i don’t have a Wise card as i didn’t opt for that when i registered) since sydney is a first world city, i would imagine almost all merchants there accept digital payment..?

and i’ve added money into my AUD wallet. i have some money in MYR wallet too. how do i make sure i use the AUD wallet when i make purchases in sydney? do i need to activate anything?

From my experience while travelling in China, got yuan, aud and myr. In the order of usage is yuan, followed by aud and last is myr. According to wise, they use the one with the best exchange rate for the customer. Same with Qatar. Aud was used first followed by myr

Let’s say we are making assumptions myr will weaken further, does it make more sense to keep in Wise jar in USD/Sgd?.
