Still in dilemma using my sutera card in Bangkok that nets 8x points vs using wise all the way as those points I can use for my enrich points conversion. What do u guys think is well worth it?

Okay guys help me make sure my calculation is correct.
Money exchanger in Kuching quoted me 100 baht = 13.38 myr In wise it's 12.96 myr to 100 Thai baht So by comparing, 7000 Thai baht by money exchanger rate it's myr 936.6 myr If I withdraw 7000 Thai baht through wise in Thailand plus their 220 baht atm transaction fee it's 907 plus 28 myr. So... My as well I choose money exhanger right |

QUOTE(ideaplus @ Mar 23 2023, 05:30 PM) But RM936.6 can convert THB 7,185.70 after fee I'm definitely using wise for terminal payments but I will have to use cash in certain regions like khao yai.So why don't you just convert in wise app and use at Thailand locally? And 100/13.38 = 7.4738 which quite low rate Looks like I'll just convert the bare minimum. 600 myr in cash form and the rest in wise and sutera card. QUOTE(xander2k8 @ Mar 23 2023, 05:27 PM) Money changer will always be cheaper overseas ATM anytime because of network fees 🤦♀️ Anything below myr 1100 is free for withdrawal based on wise new t&c after January the 3rd, 2023Did you calculate correctly on Wise where is it 12.96 before fee because if you add up 1128 baht plus rm28 |

QUOTE(Steve78 @ Apr 3 2024, 06:30 PM) That's right, fanboys are always out there saying Wise is the cheapest option and doesn't charge any fees, which isn't the truth at all. When you actually look at all the fees, Wise is usually just a bit better than your regular credit cards but not as good as those cards that actually don't charge you extra for foreign transactions. Someone needs to come out with an excel data. I would but I'm not a finance guy to compare spending 10k myr in say Singapore.10k converted to sgd via standard money exchanger. Obv there's a money changer fee 10k spent in Sgd just with cc. Need to take into consideration that some ccs have international points rewards that is x8 which you can convert to miles. 10k spend in Sgd via wise debit card. No reward points. Fees per use. |

QUOTE(ck8811 @ Apr 7 2024, 08:20 AM) Sharing of info here BTW I intend to change myr to sgd in Singapore rather than doing it in Malaysia. How much does sg atm charge? For those planning to use wise card in Singapore mrt, remember to chip and pin at atm (balance enquiry will do) to activate your card before you even start your journey, I got stuck at exit gantry and charged maximum fare Also, there is extra charge of SGD0.60 oversea administration fee even fare was charged to my SGD account (my card was issued in malaysia) |

QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Apr 17 2024, 12:45 PM) free, use UOB ATM's or Maybank ATM's (harder to find) Hmm.. So I get my debit card from cimb sgdo not use OCBC nor DBS/ POSB ATM's, they charge $5 - $8 SGD per withdrawal i saw that you have already opened a Singapore bank account, why not use their debit card from the bank you applied for or you have yet to obtain the debit card Edit: if you are withdrawing with a Malaysian debit card or any non Singaporean debit card, please choose "Decline Conversion" UOB offers their own conversion which is SGD $50 for MYR 182.50 i performed a withdraw via GXBank Debit Card, SGD $50 for MYR 177 or MYR 175.80, performed ATM withdrawals on 2 separate days Then from wise convert myr to sdg then transfer to sg cimb bank account? Okay sounds like a good idea. Thanks bro. Malaysian money exchangers now compulsory filling up data. Leceh |

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Apr 17 2024, 01:03 PM) QUOTE(moonsatelite @ Apr 17 2024, 01:06 PM) why the hell is that needed when previously you can exchange currencies without questions asked for amounts below MYR 2,500 My patient works in one of the most famous money exchangers in kuching and she herself says it's the stupidest thing the government is doing. Now most of her customers who normally launder money just take a flight to Singapore as a pretense of travelling and change money there. |

Last night I kena. Change to turkey and cannot change back. Have to send documents to wise to show I'm Malaysian. Turkey wise accounts cannot convert, cannot transfer This post has been edited by Avangelice: May 25 2024, 11:50 AM |
