Thank you thank you thank you , this workaround is a lifesaver. I ordered my card 2 weeks ago and still haven't arrived, will be flying off to Vietnam next Saturday already. Starting to get jumpy coz I don't have my Wise card yet.

I'm normally a Samsung pay user but downloaded GooglePay and this worked πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

By the way, I also read other users sharing their experience that contactless payments not widely accepted in other countries such as UK and Thailand. Anyone have a clue about Vietnam? Easy to use contactless payments everywhere? My big ticket expense is hotel payment in Hoi An, Vietnam.

Edit: i saw some ppl saying that i need to spend locally first. Does this apply to digital cards also, or only physical card?
*
Yes 1st transaction which activation has to be done locally

Just go to MCD and buy ice cream to activate it easily πŸ˜‚

A new FX transfer service provider is about to launch: ezremit by iFAST

https://www.ezremit.com/

Potential problem because unable to transact in RM unless BNM is willing to give approval for it

QUOTE(TOS @ Apr 24 2023, 07:35 PM)
Potential competitor.
No idea. Haven't tried yet.

In the end, a user will only be interested in 3 things, in order of importance:

1. all-in cost (expressed as percentage spread above interbank rate),

2. speed of execution (instant like Wise, or delayed up to 1 day like Sunway Money) and

3. customer service quality.

But then iFAST being iFAST, I guess you shouldn't have high hopes on the all-in-cost.
*
Just put in application and went through ekyc

Expensive in terms of fees, only able to transact in 5 currencies not inclusive RM but execution is should be based on UK business hours

Scroll back as someone did post the list on where to use the card

A little birdie told me that Malaysian card can now fully use contactless already. No need pin all the time anymore. They have fixed something that have been causing some merchant reject contactless service.
*
Yes by now should have because previously only those major chains having no issue with contactless

Not sure color, maybe white.
*
If white Color then it should be HLB Terminal but if it the wired older version then probably won’t work

But if it is the wireless one that is issued by HLB and being used in 711 no issue on payWave

Good day guys. I would like to ask what should I put as my legal first, middle and last name. I faced this problem while finishing account setup after registering.

Assuming Vincent Tan Ming Ban is my full name in both IC and passport.

It also mentioned address first line. Should I just fill in the address first line or in full?

Thank you very much notworthy.gif
*
First name Vincent
Last Name or family name Tan
Middle name Ming Ban

Address Line 1 is for the street address

Address Line 2 is for the apartment, suite or space number (or any other designation not literally part of the physical address) If the apartment, suite, or space number is short, and the address is short, it can all be shown on one line.

Its a weird fact that Legal Identification documents don't state First Name and Last Name in Malaysia unlike other countries.

NRIC, just states the name, no clarification between First and Last Name

Malaysian Passport, just states the name, no clarification between First and Last Name

Driving License, just states the name, no clarification between First and Last Name

not really helpful when Malaysians come across legal documents that are required to be filled in overseas
*
Do you think when Malaysia was formed that they bother about naming convention by NRD πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

First and last name is standard naming convention used in English speaking countries while Malaysia till today can’t even differentiate given and family name which will make it easier to integrate to the ISO standards for naming convention

Ming Ban is not a Middle name, he should put Vincent Ming Ban as the First Name and Tan as the Last Name, Malaysians don't really have middle names
*
Under Chinese given name is forced into the Western system as a middle name ("Vincent Ming Ban Tan")

So you are wrong at all πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ because the middle name would have - to differentiate it πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ hence Vincent Ming-Ban TAN and the convention is very commonly used in HK and SG

Wanna ask, if you got money in MYR balance. What happens if you close the account?

Is opening account for RM1XX compulsory to use the card?

First time getting this card then confuse.
*
Yes compulsory rm100 1st deposit to open account

Once received the card straight away transfer to another bank account so no need to have balance unless you want to use it and then top up

*
I don’t think so maybe you should contact CS and ask them whether can change or not

But for sure I don’t think any ATM would work changing because they are linked directly to Wise network

is it true that the first 2 ATM withdrawal is free of any charge?
I have around 2k balance in my MYR wallet.
I can go to any ATM to withdraw 1k for 2 times free at all?
*
Only up to rm1k fee free monthly up to 2 transactions and after that 1.75% charges on top of it with rm5 fee per withdrawal

sorry if for example ayam buy the USD dollar today at RM4.50, for example later when USD become USD4.90, will my USD follow that new value for exchange/withdrawal? Or will it follow the 4.50 initial value?
*
When you buy USD at 4.50 you are holding USD

The only way you want to realised gain to 4.90 is to sell it back to RM simple as that

Got it. So i can use Wise to make money from the forex exchange right?
*
You can provide if you have the foresight to time the market correctly but you can’t make much because of the wallet limit holdings is limit to rm20k πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ hence the most you can make is about 6% until you hit the wallet limit assuming you bought this year at RM high at RM4.29 to the current price

youre assuming 6% profit stops at 20k... he can just withdraw/spend some and let it roll again to 20k... technically can be perpetual  biggrin.gif
*
Like I said only this year when he bought RM ATH πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ hence assumption 6% for this year

Yes it can be perpetual but it needs work to time the withdraw and make it roll and find other place to put the excess cash hard to work πŸ˜‚

There exist multiple currency accounts from the banks offering better forex rates with no charges during currency exchanges. Additionally, there are foreign exchange investment accounts designed for forex trading. Wise isn't the top option for this when it comes to rates and fees.
*
Remember he is not doing Forex trading in the 1st place πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ it is more stashing away as savings and banks with MCA offering better rates would have already price in the spread rather than following actual live market currency rates πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Hmm really? I just checked the rates

Wise: 4.63850
RHB: 4.5060 or 4.6200 (special counter rate)

Small difference, likely save money after apply wise's conversion fee (expensive now)

Are the special rates a promotional thing? would it go away after a while?
*
Avoid counter rates at all costs as another 2% spread charge to your conversion
