QUOTE(andrewtho @ May 31 2020, 05:44 PM) I second this. this is not about knowing the chair PU surface peel or not before purchase. I think the notion of Secretlab = banned because of people reporting of peeling PU, there's also a fabric version that is very much compatible with our climate. I too referred to this thread before making a purchase decision - in fact I bought the Softweave (Fabric) version because I am well aware of the quality issues with PU leather. For the 2020 version, I believe they have already improved the PU quality - for those who are still adamant that their 'chair' must have a leather feel for more 'premium look and feel'. Though there isn't any long term review of the new PU leather yet, but I'm pretty sure SL would have addressed those peeling issues, otherwise they're just digging their own grave. this is about the price paid does not match what was paid for. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ May 30 2020, 04:08 PM) Apparently in some of the latest reviews, for 2020 models, they offer warranty on peeling. Anything older they don't offer that. I saw some folks decide to choose the soft weave instead over the PU leather. obviously they only offer the so called "warranty on peeling" after mass complain about their PU peeling, just to cover up and give potential buyer some confident. |

QUOTE(omnimech @ May 28 2020, 01:47 PM) I have a 2016 Secretlab Omega and the same thing is happening. The PU is flaking off, you do realize for a furniture at that price, 4 years consider very short duration of usage, right ? I submitted a ticket to Secretlab and they offered a replacement seat and armrests for Rm600 instead of the RM1600 retail price, Reuse the base, they will ship me a new seat, same color black on black with the new PU Prime 2.0 Overall quite happy with their after sales. The chair survived 4 years of harsh use. and if you think about it, they just successfully make you paid another rm600 ,even after you spend a huge sum of money to purchase their chair. i call that planned-after-sales selling, and im surprised you still happy about it. LOL. |

QUOTE(nkte5207 @ Jun 2 2020, 10:38 PM) The time I bought the chair, the fabric version haven't available to us. I think all the ppl that has peeling problem is also before the time I made my purchase or around that time. QUOTE(nkte5207 @ Jun 2 2020, 10:40 PM) you mention you've been using it for 1 year + 10 months? so assume you bought it around 2018. mine bought 2016 april. secretlab throne v2 green. that time also no option to choose fabric version. and if, even the one bought at 2018 also same issue, then this mean they never even bother to improve their product. what ever "improvement" they mention is pure BS. i argue with them in both SC and fb page, how come a chair at that price become like this within a year of usage. their reply is "owh sorry to hear that, but you can get replacement by paying XXX SGD" , i say NO unless you give me for free, then they goes silent . this really piss me off. previously got one lowyat member reply something like "oh you should stop complain , just pay up and get the replacement part, and replace the spoil part", and "oh their SC is nice!" ... of course they are nice, they are SELLING you replacement part ! some how that reply that quote me is now gone, good thing that pos realize how shitty that reply is. this kind of consumer is the exact reason why we still getting rubbish product. some people just fail to notice they are being duped with an inferior product, which was made to make you pay more. my chair become something exactly like below, just imagine it is green. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « my gosh , really admire your effort to fix your chair, but still , if you think about it, base on your statement, there is no doubt they are giving us an inferior product , where part of it is design to not last. i can understand things like sofa , after years of usage, sofa become old and require some replacement for the cover, this i accept. but if some part that is only used for a short period of time, or not even being used much (part that we dont even sit on), but ady start to crack or chip, this show how low the quality of these Secretlab chair, especially the covering part. for secretlab chair, all these smells like planned obsolescence ,especially those with PU cover. and to keep your chair away from obsolete , one must either pay for their replacement , or do something like you did , go and get the cover changed. |

QUOTE(nkte5207 @ Jun 3 2020, 08:22 PM) Lol, interesting to see how many people had the same. SL marketing strategy doing right as many are still falling to their marketing trap. notice nowadays many product is sold like that. design a half axs product > hype it up by send better product to those "influencer" > initial batch people take the bite > initial batch people complain > came up with half axs non-apologetic explanation with shady T&C warranty to cover themself > sell you replacement part > more ads mentioning their "improved product" > repeat and yes, all this proven to work, since the initial people later will fade off , new people come and continue to buy it. just hope those that get fabric version will last. |
