I suggest you try this. Its free and very good.

You should be able to see the shutter count in the "EXIF" tab, under the title "Total Number of Shutter Release for Camera". Highly doubt you can miss it.

Reading some of the previous replies.. i think they might be right that for a compact like the G7 there might not be a shutter count since the camera does not have a mechanical shutter like a DSLR (correct me if im wrong though).
