Hi sifus. I have spent many nights trying to decide on the ecosystem I want to go into. After much consideration, I have settled on Terncy (or so I thought)

The problem is, I want to also install smart curtain motors and I can't seem to find Terncy's curtain motor railing on Shopee, only Taobao but customer service said there might be a maximum length of railing allowed to be shipped.

I did, however, find Aqara curtain motor + railing + installation (all-in-one) basically on Shopee and it's quite convincing to get it from Shopee (plus installation) instead of Taobao.

So, now I'm back to sleepless nights trying to decide between Aqara and Terncy again, and I need some suggestions and insights from the experienced here.

Some other information that might help:
*Both are around the same acceptable price range.
*The latest Aqara Hub can also be connected by Ethernet and supports Zigbee. So, hub-wise no difference.
*Other than curtain motors, I only need smart switches and door/motion sensors, which both ecosystems have.
*Homekit is a must, but both are compatible with Homekit.
*only advantage I can think of for Terncy: their smartlock looks better
*only advantage I can think of for Aqara: possibly more devices including XiaoMi products.

Please help because I am going crazy trying to decide between the two

Would love to hear other's feedbacks as well! Is there any significant advantage that Terncy has over Aqara or the other way round?

Just a reminder to do your own due diligence too.

The post was written in early 2020 and many things have happened since then.

Here are some of the downfalls that TS has mentioned about Aqara:

- Aqara hub connect to 2.4ghz wifi
(Aqara's new hub can be connected using ethernet like the Terncy hub)

- Zigbee accesories do not support range extension
(I'm not sure if other companies have zigbee accessories that CAN extend range AND still run with battery, do let me know if you know of some)
(Aqara wall switches that are connected to electricity DO actually act as zigbee range extenders)

- Aqara is region locked if getting from Taobao
(not sure how you much can actually save after considering all the shipping fees if you get from taobao. Plenty of Shopee sellers sell Aqara products. Plus, they've been a big name internationally since the post was written so I'm pretty sure there are many accessories that are not region locked)

But at the end of the day, still up to you!
