Wow, it took me almost 1 week to catch up with the whole thread so far. Great experiences by some individuals. I'd just like to share mine, not as exiting but nevertheless still baffles me till this day.

Incident 1:
Happened when I was 14, so in secondary school. Was in the scouts' troop and that year we had a district competition, which was held in Templer's Park. So among the competition was structural building. We had to go get bamboos. I remember it was around 6 of us who went into the jungle at around 4pm ish, not very deep. But it was just the trail, with bamboos on 1 side, and I can't remember it was bamboos or the hill on the other. The sky was kind of covered from the bamboos and leaves. As usual, before chopping the bamboos, we asked for 'permission'. Got a friend who recited some prayers, and we started to chop. Towards the end, we felt strong gush of wind around the area. Like even the sand would float up. We just quietly and quickly chopped the bamboos and got out quick. Thing is, no way wind could have gotten there with the sky being covered, and only where we were the wind was there. Luckily nothing else happened.

Incident 2:
This happened in the first year of college. Also with the same bunch of scouts friends. We still went back to our school to guide the troop so we used to have our own meeting every Friday night at each person's house. There was once after a meeting we decided to go out to a park which was just outside my friend's house. We were just chit chatting, and suddenly caught the whiff of something good. Not delicious food kind of good, and it was the first time I got this smell. We looked at each other and guessing what it was, we just decided to head back into my friend's house. That was the first and last time I've experienced 'that' smell.

Incident 3:
Also in college, this time we were being youngsters, got a few bottles of beer and headed to a park to drink. Don't know why all of a sudden 1 guy decided let's play cops and thieves. And we all agreed, and we're playing chasing around in the kid's park in between the slides and all. Suddenly 1 guy just stopped and headed to sit down. Now this guy, he could sometimes see 'things'. He told the few others apparently what had happened but not me. However, that night night I hitched a ride with him and when were on the way back, I asked what happened. Initially he was quite hesitant but he said when I was chasing them, there was 'someone' there with us. And I had accidentally crossed the person's path and he wasn't pleased. Thus my friend stopped. I asked, 'is the person here with us now?', luckily no.

Incident 4:
This happened in 2010. My boss and I flew up north for an assignment. Reached the hotel around 3-ish in the afternoon and checked in. At the front desk there was a notice saying they were doing some renovation works. So okay, my boss and I went up to our floor (we got the same floor but different rooms). It was either the 11th or 13th floor. When we got up, the lights on the floor were flickering, so we thought it's just renovation works, right. I got the corner room. Did all the necessary before stepping into the room like knocking the door, saying I'm only here for a couple of nights. Lights in the room were still flickering, didn't think about it too much and showered and headed out for dinner.

Came back at around 6ish or 7, powered up my laptop and turned on the TV. Boss messaged me asking are the lights still flickering I said yea. So I thought if 2 person's rooms light flickering shouldn't be an issue. Till around 9-ish at night, I was still on my laptop and the TV was on. Suddenly I heard what sounded like drilling. But it went for like 5 minutes I thought. Then I thought, they can't be doing renovation works at this time, and the drill can't go on for 5 minutes right. I got off my bed and went to the bathroom to check. The hair dryer had turned on itself. Okay.... I thought maybe there was a power surge. Turned it off and went back to my bed. The TV dies. Just like that. I called maintenance and he came up, couldn't do anything about the TV, and before he left I just mentioned about the hair dryer incident to him. He looked and asked, 'So you takut ah?'. I just smiled. 5 minutes later, the front desk manager calls and says they're changing my room. This was when I started to feel scared.

Quickly packed, went downstairs, got the keys and into my new room. FML when i got in, right in the middle of the wall, was this piece of mirror from the ceiling to the floor. And my bed was facing it. I've read about mirrors being a 'portal' for beings to come over. For those 2 nights I just gamed till like 5am before really knocking off. Cause I'm a light sleeper, I just wanted to drain myself out. Next day told my boss and he saw me I guess he knew I was having a tough time. Work went on smoothly.

On the last day when we've checked out and were having a meal when the locals asked how was the hotel. I said my story, then my boss said he asked his friends who'd stayed at the same floor, that it was haunted. He didn't want to scare me earlier. His friend's luggage was placed at a different location after a night's sleep. He doesn't sleep walk.

But till this day i still feel there could be some scientific explanation to the hair dryer turning on. Or not?

Oh speaking of ancestral tablets, I just remembered this. My aunt was living alone quite sometime back. She had my late grandpa's (her father) ancestral tablet. Now, my mom and her siblings believe in a medium so once awhile they'll just visit the medium to ask for general things. The medium said that there were theft/robbery attempts at my aunt's house at some nights. But the thieves would always see another figure in the house and just turned away. Turned out my late grandpa was always back there protecting my aunt.

I agree with you. My dad is the eldest in the family, and he has the ancestral tablet in his house. So does his youngest brother. We never thought of it as an issue tbh. On my mum's side it is not the eldest son who's having the ancestral tablet. Everyone will inform the families to come over to do the prayers / pay respect to my late grandparents. And that includes their sisters and their families. Even Ching Ming they never minded their sisters to come along, even though some of them have become Christians, but that's not exactly the point.

It's all in the mind / heart. Pretty sure my grandparents would love seeing all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in harmony.

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm also interested to know. Previously we've been lighting joss sticks all across, except for the 'tou dei gong' (Earth/Land?) God, which depends how many you invite into the tablet.

Recently though, someone told us for ancestors should have 2 joss sticks, as three would represent it goes up straight to the Gods/deities.

What we learnt during our scouts camps was, to pee in a circle and everyone stays in that circle. Never mentioned about virgins. Maybe assumed everyone to be since we're in school? haha.

Another scary one. Just one thing I've always wondered, why is it that whenever BM is used the victim always got needles/nails? I mean even from other stories I've read. Curious why it's these 2 things, although it could be other stuff like worms, insects etc..

PJ covers a huge area, so it's not surprising to have hauntings. Heck, I mean 'they' are everywhere regardless. It's generally an older area built on old rubber and oil palm plantations. And probably newer generations have moved out of PJ so not surprised to see empty old houses.

Did you know Bukit Gasing actually has a cemetery deeper in? I studied at La Salle PJ and once the school organised a trekking day and everyone stumbled upon it. It was by a river if I remember correctly. But there are ppl living there as well so no biggie.

Just one question though. How do the needles appear or manifest? I mean like the time you and the Thai shaman were in the restaurant and the needles just appeared from thin air and attacked the amulet?

You know, I really pity your wife's family because of your FIL's doing. I guess the biggest lesson in life here is, don't be greedy, and do not cheat. Unfortunately for your FIL karma hit real bad before he even got to enjoy anything. I wonder what's going on in his mind now. I hope he's realised his mistakes.

On a little side note, and I know I have no place to say this, but perhaps just visit your in laws? At least your MIL was the most innocent one. She doesn't deserve the treatment.
