mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS.... mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I have been requesting that my account show the correct expiry date for months now but there is no feedback from DS... VPN Provider offerred help but in the end told me to get in touch with DS. So I go back to DS to rectify the error but no response from him.

THIS IS BAD SERVICE !!!

New accounts are processed fast... but old accounts are left as secondary.

I will continue to post on LOWYAT forum as well as this forum until my problem is resolved.

Sometime back, Leo server's database got corrupted and all details were lost (meaning our account expiry was incorrect), so we were informed to email them our payment receipts and they will correct the expiry date.

As i am on Leo server, I forwarded my payment receipt and my account was updated, but not fully updated. My account was suppose to expire in Nov but was updated only until August.

So I emailed DS again, and from then no more replies. Emailed him again - no reply. Sent him a PM - no reply. Emailed him again - no reply. Emailed VPN Provider - he tried to help but in the end told me to wait for DS.

First email sent out was on 16th June.... today is 25th July and it is STILL NOT RESOLVED. MORE THAN 5 WEEKS ALREADY!!!

he is MIA since 30 June until today.

The promise us to solve the Flux server in 30 june, On that day, VPNprovider told us he has went for outstation
he will be back ASAP.

Last Week he was back in live but not in LYN and his own forum.

He told his sales partner he will do the necassary action to solve the problem.

Now and Today - he is still MIA.

maybe need to get my friend to get his full details. and i know some LYN members can do it too.

Nowhere near Duock case, cause VPNProvider is still on to check the status and runnings of the server. Yes DS is away but I haven't had any problems with his VPN. Check IdealVPN forums for updates.

Then you are the lucky ones. For the Torrentflux group we had slow GUI for a long time and since the 19th Jul, server has been down.

There are word left that DS is coming back yesterday. But till now nothing.

well, this is not the way to do business. If the system admin need to go away for while (whatever reason), he/she need to find a replacement to handle all incoming problems. He just can't go away like this and leave things to their own devices. This is very irresponsible.

Someone said he had a partner? So, the partner should have done something about it and not just said wait for this DS to come back.

BTW, don't you guys get his details before subscribing to his service? Too desperate for p2p, eh?

heck i have one year 4mb package. Aint cheap..

He has proven himself in the past as worthy.
I am sure he has tons of emails asking him to explain...

The problem might be more severe then initially thought out..
maybe problem with his german servers...

well....when he does get back, here r some of the excuses he might say:

1. I'm very busy with work.
2. My PC is down.
3. My internet connection is down.
4. I was transferred to another job site with no PC and internet connection.
5. I had (some form of terrible illness)/(terrible injury)
6. Hahaha....suckers...thanks for sponsoring my trip to (some exotic location).

...and last but not least....

7. Digital Sloth 2: Hi everyone. Someone hijacked my account a few months back and set up this VPN service.................

biggrin.gif

on a more serious note, if he's not available to provide the service, u guys should inform potential new subscribers on his thread not to sign up first until these problems r solved.

cheers.

I'm not a subscriber but I can recall, some few months ago DS once gave the name and bank account number of his wife for temp payment when he was unable to receive payment due to technical problems.

Maybe someone can try looking up the thread to find her name and get her contact details from there(I'm sure you guys are resourceful).

Just an idea.

I will release his address(which he bought some item from me) to all if he fails to respond by Sunday 1159pm. Giving him a benefit of doubt(trouble etc).

The only person that I would release to his address would be the ADMIN, and 2 of his partner, X-Free! and VPNProvider for time being if being requested.

DS is a conman because the links which Reuben posted proves it. He is a proven SCAMMER and his home address is FAKE! There is no such road as Jalan Kuranji in Sibu. All of you who paid him were the latest victims in his biggest scam of all! If he isn't a conman, how do you explain the long absence? Even his partners have no clues to his whereabouts. They don't even know if he is still alive for crying out loud!

looks like I am a victim too.......but fortunately....i subscribe month per month as i was a bit wary on paying 6 months in advance.......so looks like I need to look for new vpn service when my expiry is due on 8th of Aug.

but one thing I have to say, before this problem, the service and speed was very good........if this proves to not be a problem.....I would think i might be continuing....

To be honest, I used to be a supporter of DS' IdealVPN service and the speed WAS great and everything was nice and speedy until a month ago when everything went down the drain. Frequent disconnections and lack of response is the order of the day until I can't take it anymore and I went to Reuben for his BolehVPN's trial. I'm very satisfied with Reuben's service and I really hope for a refund for my excess 20 over days left before expiry.

Diligent Sloth, I'm really really disappointed with you.

DS appears during the time when duock embroiled in a mess before he finally disappeared. Now DS is pulling the same stunt. Wonder if it's somehow related. I wont be surprised if DS appears suddenly now with the disclosure of his photo.

DS was the biggest critic of all when the Duock case happened. He kutuk Duock to the max b4 starting up his VPN service, stating that "he'll never run away like Duock" to build up his rep.

How ironic things turn out to be....

Damn man. I paid 280 for 1 year service, and I haven't used it for 1 month.

Sad. I hope that he is alive or unless he is in great danger or something. What you guys think? He conman ke?

Then go for BolehVPN? I was not happy with BolehVPN that is why I came to IdealVPN. Now this happen, i dunno what to do...

I was slightly disappointed,i mean a few months ago,i never thought this would happen at all.

He looks pretty dedicated at first, the way he tackle some of the technical problems i faced.

thank god i didn't renew my account a few days ago.

good, nvr paid for a year,

the reason is the server may go down anything due to the SERVER provider may stop providing the service.

and someone may GO AWAY anything.

I guess I have learned my lesson. My friend told me not to pay for a year but I thought nothing would happen. Sad now.. cry.gif cry.gif

If like that, then what service should we use? Any recommendations?

I have though he has provided a good VPN service after few months trial on monthly payment and later decided to top up to half yearly to avoid hassle to renew cert every month...Now I can only accept the fact that our money has gone down to the drain without refund. So the lesson is never ever sign up to this kind of service with long term becos' once we've sign up to this VPN service is basically based on mutual trust and nothing else. Peace everyone and move on to other VPN services and consider this a paid lesson to all of us. My worst fear initially is probably DS has admitted to mental hospital as mental patient not allow to carry any sort of gadgets but after reading posts from other forumers regarding his "con" jobs to others, that has change my respect to him to disrespect...anyway, I'll move on to new VPN provider as world still turning with or without him...

I guess Boleh VPN as they seem more like a reliable group to trust based on the period of their establishment compared to those just spring up recently. I would consider Boleh VPN and remember to go for 30 days at least burn oso not so much...but compare what you have got from VPN service either from IdealVPN or other VPN providers...the fee you've paid is worth every penny and even more, just my humble opinion. Therefore, no complain or whatover as we all know the purpose we are into VPN is all about getting "free" stuffs that we don't pay...if you know what I mean whistling.gif

Thankfully I don't trust paying large amounts in one shot... if not kena kau kau.

ATM, IdealVPN servers are still up and I can still connect to them. Account will expire in another 8 days, thank god, then sadly have to move to another service.

typical scenario:-
DS probably happily spent all his clients money and disapper when he realise that he could not pay the server montly bill.

ah.... well he disappear in the world wide web but still living a respectful life in the real world. kinda irritated me. :/

no hope for DS already. makes me lose hope dealing with trust also. luckily i subscribe on monthly basis.

This came as such a surprise to me. I've been on the VPN since June. After 1 month I was quite happy to subscribe for 3 months, with my expiry on 27 September.

From what I read it seems many ppl have been having problems since July but I've been oblivious to it all until today when my connection died. So I go to the VPN forum to check and got a bomb dropped on me!
Sigh, and here I was so happy being able to DL freely.

VPNprovider, I don't know what server I'm on. I actually use a certificate instead of having to log on to any particular server. Can you give me an idea and also whether you can help me move. I know it'll just be a short term fix but at least I use as much as possible before it all goes down forever.

I forget when you subscribed but yes we had a period of instability which has been resolved. I'm sorry your subscription with us occurred during this period. Back on topic, why don't since you guys are the one affected, give his company a call rather than pushing the responsibility here and there. I would do it myself but don't really see what I have to do with this since I am not affected and therefore I shouldn't be butting into other people's dispute. Can say I have no 'locus standi'...hahaha. I too would like to see this guy brought to justice or at least let his friends and maybe wife know that he's a conman. Especially since it was his wife's account that was being used. to put in the money.

Please do something guys.

LoL luckily I pay month to month basis.

But then again. Im very satisfied with his service for VPN. Good support also, if he is a conman, then pity him lo since his business for me is running good and he can make a lot of profit from it.

Does anyone here check any obituaries or something, since he is in sibu, maybe this guy got into an accident and is dead or coma? for me so hard to think this as a scam since they deliver quite a service for VPN, and so so for TF

Moral of the story:

Always pay month to month basis for network service, 1 year lump sum is too risky.

Can say I have no 'locus standi'...hahaha. I too would like to see this guy brought to justice or at least let his friends and maybe wife know that he's a conman. Especially since it was his wife's account that was being used. to put in the money.

Please do something guys.
*
Yes, I think those of us who have paid for his service should do something about this. Those who subscribed for a month only might not have lost much, but the loss is still there and for those who were on longer term it's even worse. Being cheated is the same regardless of the amount.

I'm seriously considering lodging a police report, now I'm just looking to see what should be included in the report. Some people have mentioned about what we use the service for and so how to make a police report due to the legality of our usage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's nothing to do with our report. We paid for a service and the provider has run off without providing the said service, end of story. In any case, VPN can be used for perfectly legal reasons (I'm sure Reuben can give us details on what those are, hahaha).

Regarding calling his company, is this his own or he's just an employee there? And is it related to the VPN service he was providing? If they're not involved, the most we can do is inform their HR department of his 'work' outside the company. This would only affect his employment there, if there's any effect at all.

And as for his wife, I will include her in the report. Maybe she's innocent but she is just as likely to be in on it as well since it's her account being used to receive payments involved in this scam. I'd say she's an accomplice.

So to cut a long story short, don't just take the attitude that you didn't lose much so don't bother to do anything. We need to send out the message that we're genuine customers who will not tolerate cheats.

If anyone can provide advice on how we should proceed, that would be great. In the meantime, I'm going to look into it as well and will post again once I've determined the course of action I can take.

Don't just give up!

Dear xxx

Darrell Ding was with us as one of the developer for a period of 6 months last year, various disciplinary warnings and actions had been issued to him while he was with us, for bad working attitudes, smocking, late-in-work and disturbances to co-workers. He had borrowed money from co-workers as well as committed thefts and hacking activities. We had lost digital cameras, hard disks in the office.

We had given him show cause letters in December 2006, and he had disappeared from work overnight. He had befriended a few of our staff in using their Credit Cards for various registrations of domains and services, and continued to do so after he disappear from the company.

I do not what had happen to your group, but if he had committed certain hacking activities or fraud cases, I hope you can make your own police report and follow up by complaints to MCMC, if cybercrimes were committed.

I hope you can make this known to your groups, so that they will not attack our live sites and services to customers, which we considered as spamming activities.

Hope this help your groups.

Btw for the avoidance of doubt I am not DS.

Someone pmed me saying that there were some rumours that I was DS. Although this is the first time I have heard this, I thought I should preempt this once and for all.

A bit of logic:

1) I have been running this business with rainbow6 since March. IdealVPN was running strong then with DS. Sooooo if I was DS, why should I set up another competitor to compete with my own business when I am doing well? Anyone who knows me long enough from before my bolehvpn days knows that I have been a mod at MyT and other things and never concealed my identity or real name which is Reuben Yap Wen Wui. And no, this doesn't bear any resemblance to Darrell Ding Hock Wei unless you want to say it rhymes.

2) I have regular bashings of DS, publically scolding him of stealing my guides and when queried, I never shirked away from explaining what DS did to me and even Amavant. So if I was DS, I would be stealing my OWN guides and then scolding MYSELF for stealing what are MY THINGS. Wow makes perfect sense!

So unless you're a crazy conspiracy nut who thinks I set up this whole elaborate 'war' as a means to hide my true identity as DS, you really need to get yourself checked in the head. Seriously.

Fyrekat: I believe Psychopath has tried e-mailing him, I'll leave it to her to explain the rest.

I note his custom OpenVPN packages have left some registry settings behind. I only caught a few that made further OpenVPN installations impossible but who knows what other things he put in there?

Hmm... so far as for my installation goes, I didn't find anything suspicious in my registry yet.

I actually installed using an official OpenVPN exe, then only added in his OpenVPN config files later on. Anyways, I'll see if anything suspicious pops up later. Reuben, if it's possible, could you post out the location of any suspicious registry keys you found?

On another note, Gemini server still running strong. Really a pity this shit had to happen. At least I got my full value out of it biggrin.gif.

If you installed using the official openVPN then it isn't a problem, it's more for those who use the IdealVPN OpenVPN installation which installs itself as IdealVPN.

The registry keys i can't quite remember but they were in the 'openvpn-gui' entry. I did a search for idealvpn

No wonder he tried to talk me to subscribe for one year last month. Luckily I only take it for one month. He already has a layout plan for his scam. Another 11 days remaining goes to the drain. Shit. BTW, for ppl who want to do police report, tell the police that we use this service to secure our connection when we use public wifi/hotspot. To ppl who ever use his VPN to do banking/card credit better change the password or do something, coz he might have log somewhere on the server.

Use sysinternals Autorun to check thru the startup items.

This will list down all dlls loaded and all process started at Windows startup. It will even filter out signed Microsoft entries so you can concentrate on the rest to see if there's anything out of place.

Thanks for the info as this helps to clear up that the company is not involved with the scam by DS. So to those who suggested to spam Perridot, please don't do so. The last thing we want is to create more havoc to those who are innocent.

Lets just stay on track and keep going after DS and his wife (if that's who the bank a/c holder really is).

First of all i don't think cccleaner is a complete solution. Remember DS's thing is a custom built package.

yes it says in your program folders IdealVPN and no matter how hard you try to uninstall it you either get:

a) His server list no matter what you do.

b) Cannot open the openvpn-gui with a CreateProcess error.

oh yeah i did check his site again
i realize the VPN he posted there at the

http://idealvpn.com/em/

its direct link to Openvpn

where else i found a hidden one
where by at a link of

http://www.idealvpn.com/downloads/Setup.exe

this setup has a different picture than the openvpn
and also at the installation page it says
edited by Darrell too

so i guess this is the one that might have been altered by him
other than that i see no errors

anyway i did submit a report to spybot - search n destroy team
asking them to verify this program
just to keep those victims to be safe

plus to ensure ur pc is allright
check ur dlls too mine there isnt anything real suspicious and i did realize i dint install the idealvpn`s VPN instead i downloaded the from his site which is a direct link to the openvpn.net

so i guess i m on the safe side
but i DID tried his idealvnc is a remote destkop
but for that i was on the screen as well seeing that wat he do on my pc
so i doubt there is anything he can do infront of my eyes tongue.gif

I'm one of those who let him into my computer and at that time I was really freaked coz I wasn't sure what he was gonna do. So I had one finger on the power button for my modem and watched him like a hawk. Everything he did looked above board but you can never be too sure so I agree with Reuben, if he had accessed your computer then you're at risk.

Can't remember exactly what happened for me but I remember downloading the OpenVPN program and installing it myself. It's installed as OpenVPN and not IdealVPN. In any case, I'm moving to a new computer so I'm definitely gonna format the older one just to be safe.

If someone really have some free time and did not like the idea of reformatting.
You can download RegMon and FileMon. Start the apps 1st before running the IdealVPN installer.

This way, you will know which file and which registry entry are added.

All these applications are part of the Sysinternal tools mentioned previously.

Combine this with all the suspicious entries disabled from Autorun, you should be clean.

EDIT:
Actually it seems like Process Monitor have the functionalities of both RegMon and FileMon. Personally, I haven't used Process Monitor before so no comments on that. tongue.gif

He didn't VNC into my PC. I installed everything by myself and download the program from openvpn website. But if he's using ultravnc for example, he can toggle input and blank the monitor, so you can't see what's he doing. Maybe he can modified the program and doing something in front of you but to your eyes, there's no activity what so ever. He might had a big laugh now, reading all the post about him. Someone in SIBU should nail this sucker.

Sorry but I'm not really sure what was meant by DS masked his VNC actions. Was it that he actually did something to make it that you can't see what he did? Or that he was doing something you can see and also in the background doing something you can't see? Just curious to know what he did exactly...

Well, I guess there are those would rather not have to format their whole computer but this is the safest way. Other than that, how can we ensure our system is clean? precursor80, can you explain a bit more your method? I don't quite understand coz it involve actually installing IdealVPN? You've got a point, this kind of thing would be very small money compared to what would be achievable if DS were able to create trojans for the purpose of credit card fraud etc. That however would definitely be criminal whereas what he's done so far isn't necessarily criminal, it's more a civil matter.

I've gotten some advice and basically since we paid for a service and am not getting it now, it's a breach of contract. We can sue him for what we've paid and recover our money that way, and if he can't pay then can bankrupt him. But that's about it, unless we can prove that right from the start he had planned to do this i.e. enticed us into subscribing for the service with the intention to cheat us by not providing it. This is not that easy, especially since we did get the service at the start.

So maybe DS is that smart after all. He didn't want to cross the line... so now what people? Civil suit is gonna be a waste of money, the courts have bigger things to worry about. Time to think of 'creative' ways to get him.

Process monitor can let you know what registry entries does the IdealVPN installer add. It can monitoring the installer (when it is running as a process) and log what it is doing to your system. After this, you can remove all traces of it from the system by removing everything shown. (Assuming the installer is not a virus itself which is unlikely anyways)
Another way is to unpack the installer and see what scripts it is running. There are some applications that can do that but this depends on the type of installer as well. Not all installers are supported.

Autorun will show all the windows startup items with an option to filter Microsoft signed entries. So, if DS added any trojans, it should show up here unless he's really good and manages to modify the windows files to include a trojan. You can choose to disable entries that doesn't looks ok here.

I would do this but I rather try this on a VM and am too lazy to set it up. tongue.gif

This is good to know. It appears that DS was just interested in getting ppl's money and then pull a Houdini and disappear.

Anyway, unless someone knows where DS is, there's not much that we can do on our own. Anyone know any collection agencies around that can help? If our collective 'loss' is substantial enough, we could engage one to track him down and 'persuade' him to refund. I for one wouldn't mind giving 50% of the refund as a service fee.

I was from Leo's server and unfortunately it was already down a few days back. When I was in Leo's, the dl speed was good and everything is in very good condition. I even wanted to renew my subscription which ends somewhere next month, guess its not happening now.

@DS: If you are reading this, all your rappo and your skills is going down the drain. I am not exactly sure what happened to you, but a courtesy mail is more than enough to calm the storm. You may have your own difficulties but frankly, its money you are dealing with. A sensitive issue that leads to destruction if not well taken care of.

@Victim(s): There is nothing much we can do, unless you all want to fly there, which in return actually cost more than what we subscribed. This is a lesson to be learned, which is unavoidable. Life moves on.

@VPNprovider: Be careful in selecting partners next time. Do a little bit of homework and I think you should be fine. Is there any way to get connected to different server with the remaining balance of my subscription, or all the server is already down? I've sent you a PM, but yet to receive a reply.

I thought the servers died earlier. But I thought DS placed an order for 6 months advanced for some local server. Not sure if its aries. He told me had to pay RM2400 in advanced or something like that. So had to pay outa my pocket also. What happened to the server now?

Err...he said his fren running the servers. RM400 each month/ must take for 6months then only can get the price. No lah of course both of us shared the cost, still its 1.2k and he was managing the finance that time, so just minus only lor. Sorry I'm quite naive. I didnt expect him to "disappear"

Hopefully this lead or info they have will come soon, coz I think a lot of subscribers will probably have stopped monitoring this thread since no solution was available earlier.

If you using passworded account, you can remove by yourself at http://clients.idealvpn.com/login.php
Login > Modify Infos > Remove your email address > Update profile

But if you using password-less account, need VPNprovider confirmation.

I was on Scorpio and all was well until yesterday ... and now looks like the idealvpn server is down as it cannot resolve the ip address. Now can't even go to the idealvpn account pages.

Only now I'm reading all these problems as I was okay until yesterday.

Anyway to get the idealvpn webserver up and running ?

Well, I had a 3 month account and everything was working ... so why would I be looking for DS ? rclxub.gif

Sure looks like I was lucky that my service lasted longer than the rest but that still does not change the fact that I did not get what I paid for. vmad.gif
