QUOTE(Queen_AQ @ Apr 9 2020, 11:16 AM) I actually reduce the amount of TV and especially the phone. Youtube to a maximum limit of 1 hour only set on my Google Family Link. And only strictly Youtube Kids. You will be surprised the contents of Youtube Kids sometimes, depending on you, can be questionable. Set aside education ones like Blippy or PinkFong, the rest, are rather ad-driven. I.e Ryan's Toy Review. TV? For now, only my Astro (njoi) has free viewing of Cartoon Network. But their cartoon is rather...typical american. Less logic than sense. Not like olden days of Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse. Anyhow, I installed google family link for children and teens, on my wife phone, since they always hijack my wife phone. I highly recommend for those who's phone always kena hijack and hard to take away from them. There is a feature whereby if they misbehave, can remotely "lock" phone. The lock is almost unbeatable. Google Family Link for children & teens You need to install one for the children side (which in this case, my wife's phone) and another on the parent's side (my phone). My 6yr old daugher used to install games, but after installing Google Family link, I control the installation of nonsense, and further put a password protected on Google Play and TikTok (yes, my wife uses TikTok, but my 4yr son seems to like it, but I disagree on him viewing nonsensical video. Sorry TikTok fans) . In fact, they will entertain themselves, so much so, over active. My daughter have lots of imagination to keep her busy, that makes me wonder, how come I have less imagination during my childhood times. |

I started printed out worksheets for my kid today (our new printer just arrived). And she got so excited and ask me to keep printing new worksheets every 15 mins. Good thing is less screen time today, bad thing is i couldn't focus on my work today. Whatever it is, i'm happy that it can keep her occupied

Depends in what context la. Is it for daily basis (home school) or occasional (one off)?
Daily basis need to plan gaogao, worksheets printed out, proper subjects being thought/exposed from time to time. It's not easy but i have a few friends home schooling their kids. But as a father, occasional ones; like if i have to look after the kid while the mother goes out for 1 whole day, for me are pretty easy because im a little childish to begin with. So i also join whatever my boy wants to do. Drawing/coloring, cycle outside while i jog, playground, cook together, play with puddle when it rains. All these can kill time really easily. |

Hi from Q-dees! Totally agree with so many suggestions from this thread. Though I would like to chime in a bit on the discussion.
There should definitely be a time limit as to how long your children can be exposed to gadgets so that they are not addicted to them. Now on the topic of "entertain anak2", I would propose you to see it as a way of spending more quality times with your kids. Kids' brains are rapidly developing at this stage when growing up. So a lot of stuff is interesting and exciting to them. For instance, you could teach them a new language, build something together like woodwork, solving puzzles or even help them to develop a habit of reading. If anything, hope this article helps: https://www.q-dees.com/blog/children-are-ad...to-smartphones/ Cheers |

I grew up without a computer or cp. I just had things like this when I was an adult. Maybe it should be children's games that make the body sweat and exercise and the child can explore without frowning on the radiation of the gadget and growing sluggish body.

Parents, I'm buying for my nieces and nephews. Would this be good? Hopefully this will take some time off from the TV and gadgets(passive activity, just watching) and actually do something(active) indoor.
Also, probably would help their parents WFH as well. And I just feel like buying them something. Long time no treat the kids since the pandemic It's a cardboard playhouse that they can paint/colour/doodle on it. Can fit one or two kids perhaps inside. ![]() Appreciate for more ideas. My sons like Lego a lot. They can play hours with it.
Then they'll study. Read some comic books and do some doodling.. Coloring. Around 5pm they'll go play outside.. Still inside our house compound. Running.. Scooter.. Cycling.. Digging around the soil.. We usually have a movie night on weekend only. No TV on weekdays. Cartoon only on weekends. |
