Some years back my FIL introduced me to someone who was within the government and had the know of which land that you could buy cheap to squat on as it would be purchased by the government for infra development. One of those lands that I joined a consortium of buyers was an abandoned plantation that had 2 bungalows on it, one was the plantation owner a Dutch family and the other was the estate manager bungalow.

The owner's bungalow had some very nice timbers in it and since they were uninterested in it, I took an interest in it not knowing that house actually had a sinister past. I started by removing all the window shutters, had them sanded down to the bare timber then oiled and reused it in a house project I was building, I put it on a motorized rail and both the panes and the shutter blinds had a motor to operate it. Then I decided to take out the floor boards which were solid and heavy teak planks, some were 30ft long. I had it sanded down, removed the rotted out parts and had it installed in the house project. Then I decided to reclaim all the structural timbers and a spiral staircase, I used the timber to build an attic study and the stairs I took it out whole. The timbers were carefully cut, then sanded down, treated and then oiled before it was assembled. The stairs was left as it is just given a light sanding and a clear coat. I also took out the timber from the verendahs and porch area together with some nice stones to use it as decking and paving material. After that I decided to take out some of the bricks, it had some very nice structural bricks that I  had some Indonesian workers carefully remove, then sand blasted and used it to build the perimeter fence as well as the gate pillars. Some of the bricks even had what appeared to be bullet holes on it, I used it anyway as I sort of liked it that the materials told a story. Absolutely no issues whatsoever up until the time the old house was mostly an empty skeleton and the new house was completed.

When the house was completed I was having some marital issues and was piaping one Australian girl that knew how to speak Dutch...... that's when things became rather interesting. A few times I brought her to that new place to piap and that girl swore she saw "someone" sitting on that spiral stairs. I told her to not be silly as the house was brand new and it had a blessing before it was built. Anyway 3rd time I brought here there, after piap she said she wanted to go home and I told her let me take a shower before and then I would send her home. She suddenly said no no no and asked me who was that. I was like what?? She then said someone was standing at the door then she said "it" could speak Dutch. She ran out of the house and never came back. After that my wife and me made up and I brought her there, she saw absolutely nothing at all. Then we started fighting again.... and I decided I was leaving her so I moved to that house temporarily and invited a Dutch guy to live with me. He is a married guy and one day he decided to bring home his Malaysian sweet young thing to piap (a Chinese girl who was 18, he is in his 50s) While she was being piaped she kept screaming away. I was in the study doing some work the entire time. Anyway they went down as they called for a pizza and then on their way back up she suddenly screamed her lungs out. I went to take a look. I was standing on the stairs and she said someone was on the stairs, the Dutch guy said it was just me, she said no "someone" was standing in front of me. I held on the rail and kept walking down, she said it just made way for me to pass. I told her whoever it was is probably harmless. Anyway they decided to sleep in one of the other rooms since she didn't want to be near the stairs. Then in the middle of the nite, she felt as if someone was strangling her and she swore she saw what appeared to be a young White woman with short hair. She never came to the house again.
Then I decided to piap with one American woman, again near identical thing happened and she swore never to come to my place again and instead asked me to go to her condo to piap.

After that the house had a permanent tenant, the house was rented by an American family. During the course of the tenancy, the tenant's wife went back to America with the children, I knew them quite well and I was close to him. He related what happened, he said he brought home one malay chick to piap. It seems she saw the exact same "thing" but this time "it" was hanging by the stairs. I told him malays were good at seeing stuff so don't pay any attention. He decided to piap one Dutch woman who after piap and after it was over she said she'd go to the kitchen to get some water. She then told him she saw someone running up his stairs and asked who was at home. He told her no one else lived in the house. She then swore someone kept whispering in her ear in Dutch. She went home after that. He then asked me if I know anything about it. I asked him what he meant and he told me about what had happened. I told him if he can't see it then it didn't affect him.

Well his family returned and we swore what happened was strictly between us and I won't tell his wife.

2 months later his 16 year old daughter who has a bf decided to piap another boy at home no less. "It" made an appearance to him. What was supposed to be a quiet piap became one that he screamed his lungs out and her father was alerted and found him half naked. He told me what happened and decided to give notice to leave so I could have the place cleansed.

Wife and me were on good terms then, we both decided to stay there and we piaped like we always did and no issues whatsoever. In fact she said she felt really safe in the house.

Anyway another tenant moved in. He is an ABC guy with a Malaysian Chinese wife, they have 3 children as well. She piaped one of his friends, an American Latino guy in the house and during that sessions they both saw the same "thing" and froze. She then told me about it and to call a medium. I told her I never saw anything when I lived there. She then let out that she and her lover both saw. I just brushed it off.

Anyway 2 weeks after she told me, I started looking through the estate manager bungalow as I was looking for more reclaimed timber. Well I found a book that resembled a diary and a family album. It turns out to be the diary kept by the butler for the main house, there was an account of a Dutch woman that hung herself on that exact spiral stairways after she found out the husband was having an affair with one of the local maidservants. When I looked through the album I found a picture of who it was and definitely a lady with short hair dated back to 1873, then in subsequent years there appeared to be several sightings of her spirit always on that spiral stairways and in 1920 there was an incident where the plantation had passed on to a British owner, an accident happened to the owner and a local girl he was having an affair with while walking up that stairs and a bomoh was called but it appeared "it" couldn't be appeased but the bomoh said "it" was harmless but will appear if there was infidelity going on. During the Japanese occupation the house was occupied by several Japanese soldiers who often brought local girls to satisfy their "needs" some of those girls died from torture or infection and their bodies were thrown into the nearby river. Then during the postwar years the plantation again changed hands and all the old furniture were thrown away and it was lived in by British family and it had an Indian butler and estate manager. There was a 7ft concrete wall built at the front part of the house because of the insurgency. No signs of that wall existing but it seems in 1949 some bandits scaled the wall and opened fire killing one of the directors' of the plantation that lived in that house. After that the house was left empty and only the estate managers house was used. Alas nothing of value was found in the estate manager house, it was just a standard 1970s era house as the original was badly damaged due to a flood.
Later on the house was tenanted to a German-Belgian family. Before they moved in, I made a small plaque and stuck it to the stairs where it wasn't visible, this was one of those situations where it was very difficult to chase "it" away. I stuck that plaque on the underside of the 3rd step, basically wrote the name of that person, the year she was born and died and in memory of her the stairs belongs to her. Anyway 3 months after they moved in, I came by with an air conditioner technician to check on the air conditioners and also to check on the condition of the house. Their son at that time was 4 years old and autistic. He suddenly said "it's" name and told me about his "friend" so I asked him how he knew about the name and he told me he saw the plaque and he always speaks to "it" and then his parents told me their son has many imaginary friends as he may have a case of schizophrenia. Suddenly he told me his "friend" said I was a bad man as I was an adulterer....... whoa and at that exact moment I was actually seeing 2 other women other than the wife. Anyway I came back 2 months later and again he said the same thing. They actually called me to show me the CCTV footage because of an incident. This house has between 10 to 30ft of land surrounding it and it has a 40ft long driveway from the gate. They had just returned home and were unloading groceries from their car when 5 malay robbers scaled the fence and made a dash for the house. However 3 of them suddenly turned and headed back to the fence while shouting hantu. The 2 of them barged into the house armed with parangs. 1 held them in the living room while the other ransacked the house, they then put a knife on the boy and forced them to go up the spiral stairs, quite suddenly the 2 dropped everything and ran including their parang again while shouting hantu. The family quickly locked the door and called police and the security. All 5 of them were caught and the 3 told the police there was a hantu that appeared in front of them as they ran towards the house. While the 2 said as they were going up the stairs they saw it and got scared. Then when they made their way out a different hantu appeared in front of them.

I asked the boy if he knows who is it outside, he mentioned the first name of that director that was murdered and said he always played hide and seek with "it" and would often run while "it" chased him. I was like holy shit.. The scary part?? I've never told anyone I've read that diary or where those timbers came from. He then told me the reason the 3 of them turned away was "it" appeared and told them to leave.

They still stay at the same house.

Yes it can, some persons can actually zap all the good feng shui out of a premise. Notice the area near PWTC?? Notice how that area keep failing? Guess whose office is nearby there? Sometimes being near it is also bad.

Sometimes things can be a bit different too.

11 odd years ago, when things first settled down with the wife and her family, they were pressuring her to pay them some money for her education as they were dead broke. I decided to be a bit "smart" and asked her father to sell me the house he had mortgaged to get the money to send her to Britain for her studies. He agreed and I did manage to buy it off him for quite a good price. It was her late grandfather's house, after he passed on several extensions were built at the sides and rear and basically a newish facade with gigantic roman pillars were put up (remember how such things were in vogue during the 80s)

I bought it in view to demolish it as I was planning to start a company that had the capability to perform hydro-demolition and cold cutting steel. The house had a gigantic sized altar in it and I consulted with a Feng Shui master and medium as to how best to deal with that altar and also what type of structure I should build on it. He told me he would help me remove the altar but I should not demolish the house, instead find out how the house used to be and keep it to be as near its original condition as possible. Good thing 9 houses away there was an example of a similar house that did not have any renovations since new and wife found me some photos of how the house used to look when she was born and also as a teenager. Feng Shui master said the house held some very good feng shui to it and he said the energy from it was something he had never felt before, he told never to ever sell the house as bad things could happen. 

I gave the house a fairly good modernization and restoration job, cost me a shit load of money spent more than I paid for the house on the restorations. Made sure the 2 lion statues by the front porch was fully protected.

Weird shit or coincidence? Not long after my FIL sold me the house, his developer company was sued by a consortium of buyers for LAD and defects that were so major that company lost close to RM4,000,000 while myself not long after I had the house ready for its tenant I received a promotion and in 9 years of working it was my first time receiving a raise that was significantly above inflation, was given a 35% raise and 3 months bonus which was something I never thought it my lifetime I could get as by contract I have a raise that is American CPI+1-3% MAX. In fact I had to double check with HR to make sure it was actually 35% and not a typo where it is 3.5%

I rented the house to this China national who at that time drove a 10 year old Toyota Corolla and mainly imported China food products in bulk and sold them on to the local specialized shops. Not sure why I rented it to him as at that time if you told me you were from China I'd say goodbye to you. Anyway I rented it to him he said he wanted to use the rooms to store food stuff and paid 12 months rent upfront.

A year later, when I visited the house he had a new Honda Accord and a Hilux. He then told me he wanted to pay rent 24 months in advance and never bothered asking me to reduce, I seriously wondered if he was a money launderer so I asked him to explain to me what does he actually do these days. He told me he imported many of the sauces and condiments from China then sold it to grocery shops, restaurants and also had a delivery business in addition to his own shop. Then he said he also bought seafood then blast froze them and exported it to China. Then while leaving I noticed there was raw pork inside the mouth of those 2 statues. I asked him why he did that, he told me a Feng Shui master told him he needed to do that to keep him and his business safe. i thought hmmm..... 24 months later he offered to pay more rent and paid 36 months upfront, said he didn't want me to do absolutely anything to the house. I thought strange stuff because the Accord was gone, it was replace with a Mercedes and the Hilux was replaced by a FJ-Cruiser. He then told me his business had been very successful and he had 15 staff working for him also. After that when I saw the house 36 months later, he had on his own initiative had repainted the house. He had 4 very expensive cars in the driveway including one Aston Martin and he told me he will pay 60 months rental upfront and after that he is retiring. He then told me he actually owned 7 houses in Malaysia and 1 each in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen but he preferred to live in the house.
