I am using the same Apple ID for my iPhone and iPad, with Maxis and Digi for each device.
Whenever I send iMessage from iPad, it will be using my iPhone number instead. Till now I am still unable to send normal SMS to other device using my iPad.
How do I properly set up my SMS account on iPad?

You can receive SMS on your iPad from your iPhone but you can't receive a separate SMS on your iPad even if it's a cellular one with a SIM card. I guess you'll need an Android tablet for that.
