Just got my Q6600 up and running, cooled by an Ultra 120 Extreme and a low cfm Delta fan. At 2.6Ghz full load, Core temp shows 84c/83c/78c/79c for the 4 cores while Easy Tune shows 61c

I'm at 2.8Gghz right now, highest coretemp is 90c while eazy tune shows 70c. I've reinstalled the heatsink already. The weird thing is that when I touched the lower part of the heatsink while under full load, it's not even warm!
QUOTE(gengstapo @ Aug 5 2007, 09:31 PM) Still too lazy to install my Prommy |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Aug 5 2007, 11:26 PM) I've tried reinstalling it already, the outline on the base of the heatsink shows that there's proper contact. I'm currently using the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, turned the screws all the way down already. Will do it again tomorrow. Might also try using the stock heatsink for comparison. |

Got myself a G0 earlier today, installed it already. Core Temp and Easy Tune now shows the same temp
Gonna do some overclocking now, see if it's any better than my B3 **EDIT** Scrap that, saw the temps wrongly. There's still a 10c difference between the two, it's just that the numbers are lower compared to B3 At 3Ghz, core temp shows idle around 45c and full load around 55c This post has been edited by arj: Aug 8 2007, 09:20 PM |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Aug 9 2007, 09:30 PM) 1.475v in bios if I'm not mistaken. Lazy to play around with the ram so I just put it at auto After reading what the other G0s can do at XS, I've increasing the speed summore. Now at 3.55Ghz 1.525v, will keep on increasing them until I hit 70c This post has been edited by arj: Aug 9 2007, 10:29 PM |

Q6600 Update: Currently stable at 3.6Ghz with 1.625v in bios, temp hovering around 70c
QUOTE(intothefantasy @ Aug 9 2007, 11:59 PM) q6600 G0 stepping can be better oc and gaming for e6850? how far can this q6600 with G0 stepping can go with air cooling?? At stock speed the E6850 has an edge in gaming but when overclocking comes into play I believe the difference is negligeable and barely noticeable. Check out my results, I'm using Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with a low noise Thermaltake fan |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 10 2007, 10:41 AM) Is there a reason why you choose 70'c as the highest core temp? For me 70c is a number that I'm comfortable with running 24/7. Have done that with my previous processors as well. Running it at such high temp might reduce its lifespan but nowadays the processor will get obsolete first before dying I know the Q6600 has a better thermal profile but AFAIK, most people would recommend a max temp of 60'c for the C2D. |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 10 2007, 03:56 PM) OIC. You mean that your previous C2D was also running at 70'c?? This is my first Intel processor in years. My previous processor was an AMD Opteron 165.I'm already I guess I can push my proc further as previous E6x00 had a thermal specification of 62'c whereas the new E6x50 has a higher level at 71'c! |
