hi guys, jus wondering if you could shed some light on a little problem i have. In terms of lapping, the ultimate goal is to get a mirror shine surface?
*
The important thing of lapping is to make sure the full contact of the heatsink n the ihs from the proc, not necessary to have a mirror shine finish becos it doesnt give much different than a non mirror shine, again the purpose of lapping is to make sure there is no concave or convex between the two surface.

There are chances, but some times even if your proc comes with low VID and everything it doesn't mean you can surely get excellent clocks with low vcore.
*
I agree with your statement, just like mine i have to put the voltage to 1.325 to get 3.2g stable n mine vid is 1.275 only, suppose to have lower v core volatage, but sometime the culprit might be the mobo.

guys..help me..im trying to OC my Q6600 to 3.6 using 1.7v..but its not stable..base on database..sumone oc to 4.3 using this same voltage..supposely it will be ok..but mine is not stable..why r..
btw this is my spec..

Gigabyte P45-ud3r
4gb crucial balistix
tx750w
gtx260 amp2

help me..still noob on OCing.
*
Using 1.7v asking for trouble, waiting for your processor to be burnt, not all q6600 can go that high, more over to get to 4.3g u must understand what cooling they are using n if not mistaken they use for benchmark n not for daily use. You have to try 400x8 @ 3.2g first then slowly oc higher with trial n error

Hi Hi. I first time overclock my Q6600.
I have question to ask:
what situation will cause prima95 error during test?

below is my success overclock by following beginner guide  rclxms.gif
user posted image

After that i try increase bus speed to 330. (ya only bus speed. other didn't touch) temp stay at 68'C. after 5minits one of four core get error.  cry.gif
How can? which part i making mistake  hmm.gif
*
You just increase the fsb but u didnt increase the vcore, surely not enough juice for the proc n at the same time it might be the heat problem later on becos the more vcore u increase the more hotter it will be, n presently already 68c so be careful of your temp

I believe you're using Intel stock heatsink right?
This is what I did, following what's the guide provided.
At 1.35v, we can do 320x9, which is 2.88Ghz.
So I raise the voltage to 1.40v, and the FSB to 335x9, I get 3.01GHz.
But the proc will get hotter eventually, which is around 75'C +/-. shakehead.gif
*
I dont think u have to increase to 1.4v to get 3.01g, i think 1.3v will get u there, i still remember when i was using Q6600 i just set 1.325 to get 3.2g stable like a rock ( 400x8 ) n temp full load around 59c but my proc n heatsink both lapped.

Unlink the freq ratio for CPU to RAM.

My KVR limit is only 857, so for me to go higher freqs with my Q6600, I disable the link

Another method is to lower the fsb n increase the multiplier if it is not up to your maximun multiplier yet

My current temp on 3.6ghz daily setup IBT/LinX stable.
*
You have a good temp showing there, with 1.47vcore n at 3.6g n manage to get below 60c is a good temp.

Wanted to survey what's the max voltage you all usually go until with Q6600?

I'm kinda new in overclocking world, and now my Q6600 is running 335x9 at 1.4v, and I know its not so suitable cause the voltage is too high already ... I think.
I wanna ask, what will happen if the voltage has been set too high?
*
Anything above 1.35v vcore is kinda on the high side but if you invest on a better heatsink its still alright, but oc your proc, important thing to look for is always the temp n voltage, other than that nobody know when your proc will die except the proc will have a shorter life.

hi guys im newbie for oc,is it ok to oc with these setting?
frequency:333x9
vcore:1.41v
*
The setting is ok but why wont set to 400x9 it shouldn't be a problem, secondly you vcore voltage is too high, i have try it before for 400x9=3.6g vcore setting at 1.325v. Try set it that way n see.

still can boot 3.6 at 1.5v,but stress wit prime 95 still get bsod.huhu
maybe gonna tweak somemore..
temp when stress id max 59 using gigabyte  g power cooler lite..
*
I have the same problem with you when i was using 6600GO, it will never go above 3.2g, anything above 3.2g not stable, i think the mobo problem, my mobo is p35 ds3 rev 2.0
