Is it due to my old school casing. TT xaser lll, in fact i have try several time on the TRU sitting but same .
*
maybe it's due to the uneveness of the TRU's base?

QUOTE(Xonius @ Jan 7 2008, 11:32 PM)
hmm i tried to OC my Q6600 to 3.6GHz but i cant get it to be stable for more than 5 minutes stress testing using prime. Raised the vcore till 1.475 (in bios). The full load temp almost 70C.

its stable at 3.2GHz though
*
try to pump somemore voltage in nb and sb?
my q6600 is stable at 1.39vcore in bios 3.4ghz. idle about the same but load around 60C.

it might be 60c idle...coretemp might be 70ish
*
i see.
but most of the time overclocker only bothers the load temp. tongue.gif
if idle at 60C then fulload will pass 80C easily.
mine idle at 39C fulload 69C, vcore 1.51v, ambiet temp 30C.

I hardly believe my eyes that you guys can get so low temperature at such high voltage, me at 3.2G, voltage 1.325, temperateure fluctuating at 59-66c when doing quad prime, how did you guys do to get so low temp.
*
what cooler are you using?
most of the overclockers here are using not-so-bad 3rd party cooler.
you need to have a good ventilation casing to do the job well too.

I guess your Q6600 VID is very high and not good OVERCLOCKER ! coz already 1.3 !!!!
but i think you can push your system to 3.4Ghz MAXIMUM
*
don't bull here, he can oc it to 3.6ghz at 1.5vcore.
my previous q6600 is 1.275 VID but max oc is 1.51vcore at 3.6ghz. idle 39C, load 70C, ambient 29C no aircon.

I guess you can have an idea of how the air flow goes already, got it? unsure.gif
*
this casing ventilation is not bad, i have one before.
did you try reapply the TIM on the processor?

Haven't try so... re-apply the TIM would really need some effort to be done since my casing doesn't come with motherboard tray sweat.gif ... And I wonder how should be Tunix-TX2 TIM to be applied on Xigmatek HDT-S1283 to provide the best performance possible? unsure.gif

I tried something new on how I apply the TIM... I spread a thin layer on the IHS but not fully covering the whole IHS up and then I drop a small dollop in the middle before I hump the HSF on. Guess this isn't a good combo method? doh.gif
*
if you don't wanna oc, then i suggest you don't bother it.
my casing also doesn't have mobo tray, but i've reapplied at least 5 times TIM on the processor for the best performance. sweat.gif

i mean your room temperature.
cant believe the load temp so low.
mine using s1283 lapped also reach 70C at load plus with good ventilation casing.

the temp of the air inside casing is not the same as room temp .. will definitely be higher inside the casing no matter how much ventilation .. normal maa coz inside casing got lots of stuff producing hot air .. hahahaha
*
what software you use to check the temperature of processor?
what's your room temperature?
60C fulload with 1.5v is amazing.

how far Q6600 G0 can go using stock HSF??
im kinda shortage right now..which HSF is affordable around RM100-200??

i saw a lot forumer using thermalright 120 extreme which the price is... sweat.gif tongue.gif
xigmatek looks cool tho.. rolleyes.gif
AC freezer 7..?? this one copper base rite?
*
i think 3.2ghz should be no problem for stock hsf. smile.gif

definitely xigmatek since the TR is over your budget.
