Amazing Stories (2020)

I am an old fart who is reminiscing about the 80s.

Back then you get to watch the ORIGIN Twilight Zone from the 60s, on RTM in it's glorious black and white.

Each episodes you look forward to the twist at the end. Some of them good, some so so and you look forward to the chance to watch the next episode.

There were no weekly/month TV Guide. You just stay tune same time, same day the next week and prayer that it will be on.

During the 80s, VHS changed everything. You can goto a store, called a video store and rent a VHS tape, with the shows you like to watch.

Amazing Stories were one of the series I remember watching on VHS.

The viewer was now in control of the TV programs he/her wants to watch.

Steven Spielberg was huge.

Jaws, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., he could do no wrong. He was now making a TV series where you can get to experience his magic touch weekly.

Minds were blown.

Okay not all episodes were good and have to add, the ones that do, did!!!!

Fast forward to now.

The internet. DVD/Bluray. Streaming Service. There are more TV series programming than you have time to watch.

Personally, I think with so much more options, it actually is driving people further apart.

Because everyone is watching their own thing now!!!

Back then, everyone watched the same stuff, and would talk about it the next day.

Because of the need for a gazillion TV programming, original concepts are actually... rare.

Which brings me to reboots.

I have mention the Twillight Zone and there were a reboot in the 80s and 2000s. Not forgetting the one we had recently.

Amazing Stories had just been rebooted and so far, there are 4 episodes available

Namely,

Episode 1 The Cellar which tries to answer the question, does love, transcend time? (starring Dylan O'Brien)

Episode 2 The Heat ... Ghost?

Episode 3 Dynoman and the Volt! Relationship between father and son

Episode 4 Signs of Life Do miracle happen?

The episode I like most so far, is episode 3, Dynoman and the Volt! because it actually has an Amazing Stories vibe. And also it stars the late Robert Forster (Probably one of the last thing he did, before passing on.)

The other episodes feels either convoluted or has agenda they want to ... shoved down the viewers throat...

I will probably finish this season (not sure if it will be renewed) and have to add, I won't have look forward to the same time same channel feel I had, in the 80s..

Maybe I am not in their demography anymore... sad.gif
