Going to Japan on mid april using 5 days Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass. And my iternary as follows
Kyoto for 3 nights
From Kyoto to Kanazawa using pass JR limited Thunderbird and stay for 2nights. Going to shirakawago with hokutetsu bus (using pass) for day trip. On same day Nohi bus (using bus) to Takayama. Stay at Takayama for 2 nights.
Takayama to Nagoya using Pass.

My questions:
Is spending 1 night at takayama sufficient? As i checked the hotel booking on 14-15 april is limited and plan to shorten it 1 night. Or any recommended budget hotel there?
Would like to try shinkasen train from kanazawa to toyama but cant find any bus from toyama to shirakawago, is the bus suspended? Would like to visit the doraemon musuem and starbuck outlet there (prettiest in the world?)
What to do at nagoya for 2 days? Thanks

Taking Vietnam Airlines from Nagoya Chubu Airport to Malaysia. Saw air asia 1 way from KIX to KL already cost rm 1k without luggage and meal, but VN cost RM 1.18k from Nagoya. Since Nagoya is more convenient for this trip hence probably will take this airlines instead. Transit 1 hr at Hanoi so overall 9 hours so not too bad though

BTW i booked this air asia to KIX during promo at RM 500+, going backpacking with less clothes and gonna shop there esp GU outlets and return to KL with hauls😬
Went Japan few times and clothes GU never disappointing. Although I prefer clothes in Korea range rm15-40 back on year 2014 more quality and still wearable until now, GU clothes more variety with same quality as Uniqlo but cheaper.

would like to ask where to stay in takayama for single occupancy?
Going there for 2 nights 12 to 14 April but seems limited rooms available and the rest very expensive.

Can share the location for eel rice set in nagoya? Thanks

Went to Kyoto, Kanazawa, Shirakawago and Takayama and Nagoya for 10days using hokuriku rail pass.
Utilised for Kyoto to Kanazawa thunderbird jr line
Nohi bus for 1 day trip to shirakawago from kanazawa station. Have to buy earlier even though i bought the day after tomorrow the bus was full. 1 day trip will do nth much there. Spent 5-6hrs. Then to takayama via nohi bus
Coincidentally it was matsuri festival no wonder the hotel was limited and very expensive on 14april. Stayed 1 night only at Takayama but enjoyed strolling those souvenirs shop near jinya mae temple and also Funasaka sake for 100yen vending machine. Tried hida beef ajikura
Took hida limited express from takayama to nagoya with the pass, very beautiful view throughout the journey. Felt that 2 hours plus with this train was too short. Dinner had eel rice at ESCA
It was raining at Nagoya hence indoor shopping at osu kannon which famous for second hand stores.
Had their miso katsu forgot the name but theres huge pig statue infront shop near osu street.

Btw i used wise card accepted all stores maybe except those small restaurants. Some need pin code some not required. In summary i used up all 60k yen wise card. Waiting the japanese yen to drop for next trip hahaha.

I spent around rm6k for all for my 9 days trip kyoto kanazawa takayama and shirakawago alone. I spent alot on food and stayed in dorms and budget hotels which are very clean. Allocate rm100per day for lunch and dinner. My airticket rm1700 return combination air asia and vietnam airlines
