I booked to visit Japan this year Oct long ago, hope situation improves by that time. It's my first time going to Japan and I really want to make it sad.gif  haiz

Mine to Osaka this August. Hoping AA can extend to cancellation till Aug 2020 (now still June 2020). Also 100 Yen to MYR 4.01, quite expensive currency exchange now

Just hold it on until closer to departure date where they will adjust the policy else you loose everything now if you action it now.

Also not to mention they still had the 14 days quarantine for arrival into Japan as well as other member pointed out that the free visa thing for Malaysia is gone at the moment.
*
Yup, agree. I dont mind if AA cancelled my flight, as long I can get re-book on next 2021 or maybe 2022. My trip to Osaka supposedly is my wedding gift to my waifu. Looks like need contingency plan for now sweat.gif

Hi all, thinking to repeat trip to Osaka this year or maybe next year. Previously was fliying using airasia x and its kinda affordable. But since after covid, even airasia x flight is sky rocket.
Just wondering if let say I landing at Nagoya and ride train/buses to Kyoto/Osaka, it is make sense?

Example
AAX > KIX ( around 1.7-2k random date )(not all inclusive)
SIA > SG > NGO (1.9-2k) ( all inclusive ) random date

Both flight are return flight

Well, return bus ticket from Nagoya -> Osaka/Kyoto costs RM150+ and for Shinkansen RM300+

You decide if it's worth the add on.
*
Yes, I already calculate the bus/train train and somehow its match with AAX price direct flight. Well will take account on this thanks

QUOTE(michaelchang @ Mar 10 2023, 08:37 AM)
During peak season and tickets to Osaka sky rocketed, that's what I do. I fly to Nagoya and take shinkansen to Kyoto for holiday. It's further than Osaka-Kyoto but it's cheaper this way (during that time) and I get to try the fastest Nozomi train and on the way back, I stay one night in Nagoya to try famous eel rice set and look around Nagoya city
*
Okay I not alone thinking about this. Coz previously only land at haneda or kansai airport. just wanna try others airport and possibility to explore other part of japan. thanks

which is why I asked for comments lo ... I'm not familiar which area will take up more time

so other than Shinjuku Gyoen .. what else I need to adjust?

some spots are not critical I can skip / remove (e.g. Hakone) and leave for next time.
*
for me, hakone can skip if you can. as if your intention to view mt fuji, i think better go for kawagucko. Last time I went to hakone ( took the hakone kamakura pass) it was fun as so many ride can naik ( boat ,cable car and train) but mt fuji really shy2. the place also big. If you have spare time then yes can go.

Is this deal better than buying at the airport? What's the best telco card to get for Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe region?
*
last time on 2018-2019 i using from hello1010 website and its quite fast for both osaka and tokyo. And yes, with so many sim card seller on shopee, the price is really compatative to get from sopee.

oh, the hello1010 carrier interchangeable (ntt docomo/softbank during that time)

hello1010 still using 3g/3.5g, it did not have the 4G speed.

If u want 4G speed better use Japan sim card or use local telco roaming pass.
*
ahhh i see. didnt realise hello1010 was not fully 4g. noted shall search local sim for my next japan trip tongue.gif

Just went back from Kansai region 30/8 - 10/9. Those who going in next 2-3 month, this what I can share;

- KIX airport now in renovation so the departure will only open 1 lane. Do come early if you have a peak time flight
- Indeed its super crowded. Those planned to go USJ, if you can afford to take express pass, take it. Otherwise, do ride with the most ride you like (eg mario or roller coaster flying which paid of the ticket)
- Tourist from PRC and Korea is takes more than 60-80% of the total visitor. ( only Kobe I felt macam local style, less tourist)
- Only tips I indeed really useful, come early to every tourist attraction you wan to visit, definitely worth it tongue.gif

How long it took you to clear immigration at KIX?
*
Immigration was fast due to autogate, but security is slow due to only one lane open. It was 8AM flight. takes around 20min as I remeber to reach security check

QUOTE(ZforZebra @ Sep 11 2023, 05:57 PM)
USJ xpress pass you bought online via their site?
*
my bro brought at klook

PRCs are back in force huh. My Sakura trip in Mar/Apr was quite pleasant cos I think that time they still not able to travel overseas (or something like that). But I guess it's only a matter of time.
*
yess. it was like disneyland when I was at kiyumizudera. bamboo forest. domtoburi? even around 9AM also people start to pack sweat.gif

QUOTE(quadcube @ Sep 11 2023, 09:18 PM)
didn't noticed this when I departed/arrived at KIX between 25/8 and 3/9..good info
*
I see. if you remember, there was something close in the middle of of departure hall. Seems it will fully completed around winter 2023-2024

Also as for weather, the first 3-4 days was super hot at Kyoto but gradually okay after that. Weather forecast at japan MET seems really accurate as they have 2 week forecast and 60-70% accurate. The fun part is can use autogate when departure from KIX which really nice ( last time went 2018 sweat.gif )

Got it thanks, so it has improved compared to when they just open borders. However, I will have to skip the autogate and use the manned counter as need to get the temporary visitor chop. Do you have that stamped to your passport?
*
Ohh during arrival kix, got sticker on the passport. on 2018 when I depart from kix, it will stamped on the passport during departure. Now can use autogate, save hassle. However its limited to certain country I think and MY listed as autogate user biggrin.gif . also elderly and person travel with kids need to manned gate to clear immigration

oh, that is good news  biggrin.gif If you dont mind, the sticker states temporary visitor?. Need it to exchange JR voucher.

p/s what do you mean when you depart from KIX, it will be stamped. You mean when you arrive?
*
haha sorry if I make you pening tongue.gif . let me rephrase like this;

2018
landing KIX - got landing permission state temporary visitor
go back KUL - the passport will be stamped 'departed'

2023
landing KIX - still got same sticker as 2018
go back KUL - use autogate, no more 'departed' stamp on passport

ohh...1 more question.

i intend to collect that chop stamp at some of the places i'll be visiting. do they sell those book for chopping anywhere near the area?
*
No, please bring from Malaysia. Eventhough they mention can request paper from station, I bet save a lot time bring from home biggrin.gif

For wifi/sim part, can just buy from shopee/lazatda sim card also works. you can buy sim card at yodobashi/bic camera.

Guys, is withdrawing money via Wise from Japanese 7-11 / Post Office ATM still the best option for getting Yen right now despite the fees?

I am planning to withdraw about RM5K only when I arrive in Japan, would there be a problem?

Tried to search around but seems like there are new fees to Wise withdrawal, can't really tell what's the reliable information here.
*
As what i read, first 2 withdraw = free with max rm1000

after rm1000, will charge 1.75% with rm5 withdrawal fee
