Alright. Booked the following:

Travel Date: 30/11/22 (reach 2pm noon) > 11/12/22 (Flight at 12am, on 11th), all local times
Duration: 11 nights

PAL - 30NOV22 KUL>MNL>HND
MH - 11DEC22 HND>KUL

I'm thinking of dividing the days as per follows:

1 night in Tokyo
3 nights in Osaka
1/2 night in Kyoto
1/2 nights in Nagoya
1 nights in Fuji
3 nights in Tokyo

First timer to Japan, would like to seek for suggestions on the time allocated suitable for basics for the cities?

I'm looking for mainly sightseeing / food with perhaps consideration for visiting major attractions i.e. Theme parks / etc

Just started to plan my schedule

Travelling in pair.

Am considering the JRPass 1 week, then final few days maybe more localized passes.
*
Last time I did 18 days cover honshu only, used the 7 days jr pass, overall budget 7k, hotel + transport + flights (back in 2019)

Tokyo (arrive) - Nikko (1 night) - Tokyo (3 nights) - Kawaguchiko/Yamanakako (1 night) - start using JR pass - Nagoya (1 night) - Toyama (1 night) - Takayama (2 nights) - Kanazawa (1 night) - Hiroshima (1 night) - finish using JR pass - Kyoto (3 nights) - Osaka (3 nights)

Can go again, japan is really nice wub.gif

- Nagoya one night enough, or just skip altogether. Last time I detour here, supposed to go nagano but flooded cos of typhoon. If you decide to go, don't forget to try miso nikomi, it's the signature food there
- Kyoto 2 nights too short, 3 nights minimum... you need two full days to really experience the place
- Travel out as early as possible, you're going during winter, daytime hours very short. Lot of places open as early as 6am
- Try not to squeeze so many sights in one day, travelling by public transport isn't as fast as you think, sometimes between long transit and waiting for next train already almost half day gone, limit to 1-3 sights in between cities will do

Winter is nice the first time, after a while, the novelty wears off. Too wet, too cold, daylight hours also super short

Prefer spring or autumn

High level itinerary for my 13 full day trip. 15days total sat-sat but 1st and last day is flying day flight

Thinking of

Osaka
Kyoto (+Nara)
Takayama
Kanazawa
Tokyo

I havent put in a specific nights yet, still planning what sights to cover. The advantage would be i am flying im osaka and flying out tokyo, i guess i save some time there.

Btw, any qr payment in japan that will help with travel? I will have card payment also la. But qr payment also means i need internet... Like if they have something like wechat/alipay in china widely accepted then can download and use. Bring less cash.

Doable,

Osaka (3 nights)
Nara (day trip on the way to Kyoto)
Kyoto (3 nights)
Kyoto to Kanazawa by train
Kanazawa (1 night enough or make it a day trip? not enough things to do here as an overnighter), depending on when you're going, the kenrouken gardens open very early, like 5.30am... till 6:45am is free to enter (not sure if this is the case now). Night illumination during winter only
Kanazawa to Takayama by bus with stopover for few hours in Shirakawa-go (I think 3-4 hours is the sweet spot, I was there for half a day, end up really bored... not much to do there besides sights)
Takayama (2 nights), day trip you can go hida village or kamikochi
Takayama to Kawaguchiko via Nagoya
Kawaguchiko (1 night), at least a night, cos mount fuji is a really shy mountain. Night time can go public onsen brows.gif
Kawaguchiko to Tokyo
Tokyo (3 nights)

Plus minus as you like, if take public transport better not be adventurous and try to see like 10 places in one day, not doable

2 nights in Mt Fuji should be enough. If you have enough budget, you can try search Kukuna or any hotels around Lake Kawaguchiko. Check if the rooms have a Mt Fuji view.

If your hotel doesn't have a Mt Fuji view or onsen. Can try these 2 places. They both have a Mt Fuji view are these 2. I forgot how much but should be around 1000 yen or cheaper.

Fuji Yurari Hot Spring (newer and larger with more pools outdoor, it's abit far, I rented a car and drove around so it was easy for me.)
Yamanakako Onsen Benifuji no Yu hot spring

Yamanakako Onsen is the one I went, reasonable price. nice place to experience 'culture shock' brows.gif brows.gif

how are you guys still flying over? i see the tix is 2k min for return!

planning for sakura season but seems like a no go

Flights in general gone up 50% - 100%

Gone are the days where japan return tickets can get less than RM700 return

You see airasia also not cheap anymore

Inflation mang, also recession inkambing

btw, i'm like having difficulty deciding on which area to stay in osaka.

any personal preference for peeps here? so i feel there's no severe disadvantage in most places. just a matter of preference.

like if stay north shin osaka, ppl who like to do day trip (but i'm only doing one which is to himeji, obviously not doing day trip to kyoto)

the kita ward or near osaka station, more central/CBD

the minami area (every blog i google) seems central, happening, eating place...

another consideration is i'm arriving at KIX at 9pm on SQ, just dont want to make it too difficult on my 1st day to get to my first lodging but good hotels near the stations again, seems plentiful.
*
Last time I stayed at shin imamiya, budget-friendly area, steps away from nankai line and metro, near to everything

The hotel I wouldn't recommend though

New airlines are coming to Malaysia soon in 2023.
KUL - NRT
ANA Low Cost Version macam Scoot.

It called Air Japan. Using B787, main rivalry will be that Zipair.

This also proof my theory, all low cost airlines will be push to Narita and Haneda no longer accept any low cost airlines.

I really wish this Air Japan are sharing same mileage as ANA.
Then Jackpot for me!

Fuuuu, narita so far

Hey guys

Shizuoka alone will be good for clear Fuji view.

Plan to stay in Shizuoka for a day if not going up kawaguchiko for day trip.
Or I should spend a day trip in kawaguchiko?

I have full 2 days in Shizuoka so still considering if I wanna go up or not. How good is kawaguchiko that die die must go up?

Mainly for Fuji and food.
*
Which part of shizuoka? Gotemba has really nice views of fuji

Yamanakako also not too far away, it's the nearest lake to mt fuji, very nice views

Thanks will search on that!
Many say purposely go up stay a night but end up Fuji not clear for that day hence kinda disappointed. Abit time wasted.

I am planning staying near Mishima station

You can check the livecam if can see view of fuji or not: https://www.fujigoko.tv/english/

That's like one short train ride away to gotemba, and from there, another bus ride to yamanakako and fujikawaguchiko
