Hi,

I am flying using Eva airline and layover at Taipei Taoyuan Airport,

a few questions if anyone knows

1) Due to new covid regulation for flying from China, just wondering is Taipei considered? Coz need to do the test prior to flying.

2) When filling up the fast track entry form, it ask to fill in flight number. As mine is connecting flight, do I fill in the one kl-taipei, or taipei-osaka. Or does not matter

3) have anyone done layover at taoyuan airport? can find sleeping places ie is it many? i have a 20 hour layover before heading off to Osaka

Thanks

i used eva airline and did the same as yours, layover at TPE airport when i flew to and fro tokyo.

1. Don't understand this question. If you got 3 jabs of vaccine then u don't need to do any testing prior to flying.

2. taipei - osaka will do

3. TPE airport terminal is really really huge so a lot of places for you to rest. While you can find places to sleep there, normally the comfortable one or the paid resting armchair one will be used by other people, so prepare to be uncomfortable. If you have a 20 hour layover, may i suggest going out of the airport instead of waiting in the airport for so long?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. As for question no 1 because Japan say flight from china need to do pcr test or something like that. I was wondering flight from Taiwan considered as (china region) or not..but I can answer this question here also. I did the fast track application on Japan website and not necessary.

3. Yah, just feel lazy to travel 1.5 hours to town to zzz then 1.5 hours back..waste energy n money 😆 coz my layover vy weird la, is at sleeping hours so basically just sleep nia cant do anything else in town

How was EVA flight for you btw?

Luckily mine was just an overnight layover around 7 - 8 hours both to and fro, so just sleep at the airport will do.

The flight is quite alright. Nothing out of the ordinary. Though u might need to check if the airplane has USB port for you to charge any of your devices. For me the flight back from tokyo to tpe was an old plane so it does not have any USB port. The screen is not a touch screen at all, it uses the old style remote attached to the seat to navigate the entertainment system.

Other than that overall so far so good.

oh crap... how about end sept till mid oct?  as TGS is expected to be held from 21-24 Sept

TGS in Tokyo first then touring the rest?

or just abandon the idea of attending TGS and go during better time?

LOL. i did exactly that 10 years ago. Went to Tokyo near end of Sept for TGS because at that time airasia ticket was quite cheap. I went there for 1 week+, landed in kansai airport and tour around osaka and kyoto for the 1st few days before taking the bullet train to tokyo where i spent my last few days there including attending the TGS.

Although it was typhoon season, it did not affect the services there cause i think the typhoon either is not that strong or haven't reach japan yet. But it did rain when i went there, and when it rains it will rain the whole day from morning till the evening. I remember walking around kyoto carrying an umbrella the whole day.

Of course the weather 10 years ago and the weather now is completely different so in the end it's all about how well u are prepared for it. If you are afraid there will be services interruption, then just stay at tokyo for that 2 weeks. There are a lot of places you can visit in Tokyo for 2 weeks. Last december during christmas i went to tokyo for honeymoon vacation for 2 weeks and there were so many places i haven't finish visiting at all.

yeah, thinking of reschedule now, had enough of rain & hot suns here already  sweat.gif
I think 2 weeks in Tokyo kinda a bit of overkill for me already... even if no typhoon then constant raining whole day is mood killer for me then
end Oct to Nov a good month?  go see their crazy Halloween ?? hmm.gif
I choose Sept bcos of cheaper fares also + TGS, as I've never attended any game shows before
become a mallrat for 2 weeks in Tokyo? hmm.gif  1 week probably but not 2 weeks

My initial plan was just 1 week, but since wifey gave special permission for 2 weeks so might as well take it tongue.gif

There are plenty of places other than malls in tokyo that u can go visit. outskirt of tokyo like hakone and nikko is also good place to visit if u never been there before. Rainy season go dip in the onsen is so relaxing. I would like to visit Saitama and Yokohama when i go back there.
