just back from my 2 weeks solo trip in Japan
Only travel to Kawaguchiko area, Tokyo and Yokohama
thankfully the weather been good to me. the rain didnt affect my trip. notworthy.gif

So sad most of the maple leaves already fallen at Kawaguchiko area but Tokyo area still have some maples trees in the parks and yellow gingko trees around the city.
Luggage area and locker at the Kawaguchiko station are full when i arrive there almost noon so i kept them in a bicycle shop which i planning to rent bicycle from them the next day
Kawaguchiko lake and surrounding places like the Traditional Village, Oshino Hakkai, Arakura Sengen Park, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine etc are nice places to visit if they are not pack with people. I visited most of them early morning.
Once i accidentally took a bus to Oshino Hakkai at noon and the place is jam pack with people and the shops are full not easy to walk and enjoy surrounding area. rclxub.gif
I went back there the next day at 7am+ and its only less than 5 ppl there. so peaceful.
Some buses there dont accept IC card so have to pay by cash
Fuji Q Highland amusement park is awesome too free entrance and just behind my capsule hotel and near Fujikyu Highland train station

Yokohama is my fav too. I didnt expect much from Yokohama but i like the place once im there.
Its not as busy as Tokyo and less stressful.
Chinatown and the Christmas night market near Red Brick House was the only places pack with people
Ramen museum also quite popular there and many ppl lining up at most of the shops to eat different ramen. There is only 1 shop that dont have ppl line up. I wonder why.
The Gundam Factory is most probably my fav highlight in Yokohama
Watching the giant Gundam move and pose with the song music and Christmas Illumination light leave me speechless and amused. I spent 4hours+ there but its freezing cold too because beside the sea and cold wind blows
Even get to see the giant cruise ship Pacific World dock at Osanbashi pier and depart later with performace on the ground
I stay at APA hotel there with great window view over Minato Mirai at night with the colorful giant ferris wheel. During the day, u can even get to see Mt Fuji. ohmy.gif

I walk from morning till evening or night most of the time till my leg heels cracked quite seriously till i have to buy vaseline apply thick layer and continue next day.
mayb also bcoz of the cold condition sweat.gif

my legs wanna break liao when i entered 2nd week sad.gif
walk alot in Yokohama and Tokyo area

i stay in internet cafe, capsule hotel, and APA hotel and their price are quite reasonable for me
just that staying in internet cafe and capsule hotel the sleep quality may not be pleasant

the food is kinda on the expensive side around RM30+ to RM40+ like ramen, cutlet, etc
fast food maybe around RM20+
even breakfast from kombini around RM9 or RM10

nothing much serious happen to me during the trip
just that i knock the side of my body on the table causing sharp pain on the 2nd day and next 2 days later pain around my ribcage
was thinking off doing xray there afraid that i may broken my rib cage and cause internal bleeding but finding a clinic with xray service seems challenging to me.
was also suffering chest pain a bit when doing deep breath but i guess maybe due to the sudden cold weather and dehydrated coz i drink less water
since now im back Malaysia the pain is not that much but still maybe i should do check up.

and ya i lost my suica card on the last day in the train when i reach the airport. RM60+ gone sweat.gif
lucky the staff let me thru when i said my card loss.

Welcome Suica or Real Suica Card which you own before 2022?  If Welcome Suica, it will self destruct in 14 days anyway.

It's Welcome Suica.
I think it slip out when I took my handphone out.

Rm60+ inside Welcome Suica cannot be refund at counter (Even you at Japan) + It will self destruct after 14 days from your 1st active date.
Rm60+ no matter how, no way to get it back.

Was planning to spent the amount at the airport buying souvenirs. 😢

but... according to the current statistic, the Chinese "horde" still hasn't arrived in Japan in bus loads, most are just small groups like families and friends
likewise for Thailand, when they're expecting hordes of Chinese tourist but there's only a trickle..

in Japan, you'll have higher chance bumping into Koreans and Taiwanese than Chinese tourist
*
i bump into many Chinese, Thai and Korean tourist when i was there this month.
there are also those from Hong Kong.

Den Den Town: ohhh.. 2nd akihabara. will it be better than Tokyo? will their electronic prices be cheaper than msia? i may wanna get an extra memory card or battery or anything that catches my eye there. haha.

Pontocho: i recall some YouTube vid recommending places for the river side strolling or dinner. the alley is mostly sake bar?

Tokyo Skytree: Noted. will check it out.

Akihabara: noted on the this as well from a YouTube vid. same product, wide price difference.

Hi Everyone,

Airasia flight to Haneda all around 10.40pm,
any suggestions / cheap options stay in airport till next morning?

saw there's airport lounge can I pay and enter it? or any recommendations?
*
I was planning to overnight at Haneda airport but when i reached there and clear custom, there is still a bit time for me to take the train to Shinjuku.
So i travel to Shinjuku and stay at an internet cafe for 6 hours at around RM65 as the next morning i going to Shinjuku Bus Terminal.
I took the Tokyo monorail at 11.30pm and change to another train heading to Shinjuku. Its kinda rush haha.
When reach Shinjuku station, need to walk around 7min to the internet cafe dragging the luggage. Luckily the rain just stop.

Earthquake

TOKYO - An earthquake measuring a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 hit Tokyo and nearby areas on Thursday, but no tsunami warning was issued, the weather agency said.

The quake struck around 9:08 a.m., with its focus in southern Ibaraki Prefecture at a depth of about 50 kilometers, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

It registered lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Tochigi and Saitama prefectures, 4 in Ibaraki and 3 in Tokyo, the agency said.

No abnormality was reported at the Tokai No. 2 atomic power station in Ibaraki following the quake, its operator said.

Guys, anyone who traveled to Kawaguchiko recently and still think it's a worthy experience?

Day 2
0700 - Chureito Pagoda
1000 - Honcho Street
1300 - Lunch and depart

I am now having second thought and thinking about going to Hakone instead... and from where I am traveling from (Takayama), that's 1 or 1.5 hours shorter journey and a lot easier to get to.
*
Are you spending 3 hours at Chureito Pagoda?

My experience with kawaguchiko is very mixed, the view around the lake and oishi park is pretty. Public transport is very crowded especially if you take the sightseeing bus to go around. Very little food choices too and prices are quite expensive compared to other places, and all the restaurant almost full house everywhere. I only ate convenience store items when im there  sweat.gif

Also be aware that some of the restaurant close quite early during dinner time so make sure to check those restaurant opening hours.

The oishi park ice cream is delicious though  drool.gif

Ok, I may reconsider... I guess just good to cross off the list for first timer. Perhaps I'll just check the weather few days prior and decide because the hotel I booked offers cancellation up to days before, and if it's gonna be rainy I might just go somewhere else.
Basically what I gathered doing research as well. If the stars aligned for all the bad things to happen, then it's gonna be pretty poor experience.

I have no interest in the Fuji-Q rides, and also not planning to get sardine-packed in the cable car + long queue, hence my plan lies a lot in Fujisan being visible.
Just a rough plan. I think I will just search more and see if there are interesting things to do there.
*
since you're staying near Fujisan station maybe can consider visiting Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine or Oshino Hakkai...
