Late March & Early April are Sakura Season. Abit hard.  60% chances you can't get it unless you go for the expensive berth. such as Class A - Single Deluxe 17280 Yen + JR Rail Pass or Class B - Single 12900 Yen + JR Rail Pass
Expensive berth then your chances are 65% because it cost more than flight ticket, usually Japanese won't so crazy on this 2 berth except Train Otaku which is very rare.

If you really board on this Train. No Matter what is your Coach Number .......Just stay at Coach No. 11 Sign on platform floor. Once the train door open, Rush Into Coach 11 & Turn Left into Coach No. 10 Shower Vending machine !!!  Buy the MotherFxxxx Shower Card ASAP!!  Prepare 330Yen Coin when you at Platform!!!  It MUST EXACTLY 330 Yen
The Train leaving Tokyo Station on 22:00.....Get your Ass on Platform at 21:30!!!

Shower Card on Sunrise are super super super rare Card & So limited. Everyone wanted it!! No shower card you can't access into Shower Room....Hot Shower before sleep or Wake up early & take a hot shower are most most Enjoy thing on this Sunrise Train.

DOn't ASK me how I know....This is my 6 times Sunrise Train Experience !!!

If you take the Class A Single Deluxe then forget it because Amenity bag got shower card (Money Power)  tongue.gif

hmm.gif More competitive than I initially thought but Sakura season in Kagawa sounds amazing with the sea and all.
...might have to consider buying JR Pass Online so I can book a month earlier.
But to be honest I just want to experience overnight train, if from Takamatsu to Tokyo, do you think it fair better chance? tongue.gif

Hi all.
Want to ask about JR pass

1. Since I need to do return trip Tokyo osaka
I guess it's cheaper to buy JR pass right?

2. The hotel I'm staying doesn't have people manning the lobby. Can I order online and pick up from JR station instead?

3. How much more expensive if buying physical at Japan compare to online?
*
around 10-15% more expensive if you buying JR Pass online.

Just leaving this information here [https://jprail.com/travel-informations/other-rail-passes/rail-pass-for-visitors/jr-pass-official-reservation-site-user-guide-how-to-buy-jr-pass-and-book-a-seat-online.html]

Will be visiting Japan in early March, actually this is a sudden decision and just bought the ticket to osaka.

Saw in this section that mentioned if only 2 doses of vaccine + PCR Test (72 hrs within arrival) will need to wait for very very long queue and procedure.

May i know is it still the same situation now if im arriving in Osaka? Anybody with recent travel to Japan can share some information.

Thnak you in advance.

JR Rail Pass + 11000 Yen for Private Single (berth with door)

From Takamatsu to Tokyo Train leaving at 21:30. You need reach platform at 21:00 for the "Limited" Shower Card

Looks like I don't get much savings for 1 x round trip.
Guess I will buy single pass bah.
And save the hassle.

Can single pass bought in advance and make reservation from website?
Or have to do it in train terminal?

Do they accept credit card?
*
Advantage to individual trip = can take Nozomi (fastest bullet train not covered by JR Pass)

If not during holiday period (christmas, golden week etc) can just buy ticket when you are at Train Station, they have trains departing every 10 minutes

Yes, can pay by credit card at counter. Some machine do not accept foreign credit card

Any 1 has recommendation for car charter in Hokkaido ?
count based on hour/day instead of per pax.
found 1 car charter that count per pax, super expensive , even if many people the price is still that high

Sounds a bit more confidence now for next year early April brows.gif
I guess I will take chance with manual booking instead of JR Pass if I can since need to get Deluxe Twin for Takamatsu to Tokyo.

If you booked without JR Rail Pass
You need to pay Train Ticket 11,540 + 11,540 + 18,700 (Twin) = 41,780 Yen
If you book with JR Rail Pass (Reserved seat with your Pass No.) = 18,700 Yen only.

Sunrise Seto / Izumo already phase out Twin Deluxe. Only left Private Twin...means you need to rush for Shower Card. biggrin.gif

Hello, I’ve drafted out my itinerary based on your advice. My preference will be more to nature sightseeing. Will only use public transport for the entire trip, most of the hotel stay is nearby train station.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Questions:
1. It’s my first time to Japan, how’s my itinerary? Anything you feel not right/feasible to do?
2. Main reason I head to Aomori is to catch Cherry Blossom. Technically I can still watch cherry bloosom +- 7 days after full bloom right?
3. To utilize the 5 days JR east pass, does my Tohoku area itinerary workable? Any sightseeing suggestion for this area?
4. Can I buy the JR East pass in their website and make online reservation 1 month ahead of actual travel date? I’d like to book ticket early possible due to Golden week
5. Saw this note – “You cannot use express trains that both depart from and terminate at stations on Tobu Railway lines. You can only use the JR EAST PASS (Tohoku area) on Tobu Railway lines if the train either departs from or terminates at a JR station.” It shouldn’t affect me right as I’m travel from Tobu-Nikko to Aomori.

Thank you smile.gif

Japan Golden Week reservation will not open for foreigners. All reservation reserved for Japanese local. If you travel to Japan within Golden week. Then just stay inside Tokyo. Forget about Hakone, Lake Kawaguchiko, Nikko, Aomori, anything......Just only Tokyo.

Your itenary won't work. No way you can return to Tokyo from Tohoku because already hit Golden Week. Tohoku Shinkansen need Reserve seat. You need back to Tokyo by 27 April.

Is JR dirty tricks. I been Japan so many years, based on my experience. If you booked thru JR Rail Pass, system will know you are foreigners, it will automatic pop out all seat full.
10-15 years ago there are no such thing as online booking, ticket had to booked / purchase thru machine / JR ticket counter, Those JR ticket counter saw foreigners face, automatic put you in non-reserved seat during Golden weeks.
That time, all shinkansen still got non-reserved seat, foreigners 100% kena non reserve seat. Non reserved seat become like our KTM commuter, seat are 1st come 1st serve, if half way you walk away from your seat for pee, another person can take over your seat. My longest record was from Tokyo standing all the way to Akita. sad.gif

3 Way:
Option 1:
Buy Grand Class Seat. You got 60% chances can get seat reserved during Golden Week. JR Rail Pass + 28,980 Yen
I called it Money Power.....Batman...''I am Rich''

Option 2:
From Ichinoseki Iwate take Local train heading to Sendai City. From Sendai take Night Express Bus to Tokyo. Expecting heavy traffic jam on highway but you still heading to Tokyo and all your plan won't effected. Just need to do some minor adjustment.

Option 3:
Booked the flight ticket now.
Sendai to Tokyo. One way ticket around Rm400-500. Of lucky, early bird ticket around 300-400

Xperia 5 IV not compatible too. Reason given via Shopee chat is that the Xperia's phone's chipset cannot support the sim.

Taiko, on the topic of Golden Week, according to calendar, it’s starting Wed 3/5, but 29/4 is also a national holiday though it’s a Remembrance Day rather a celebration.

Any idea if the actual crowd is From 29/4 or from 3/5?

Japan highway traffic jam in golden week start min 4 hours above. Highest ever record was 7 hrs jam. Specially leaving Tokyo heading to Shizuoka part. Nagoya to Osaka another 2-4 hrs Jam
Tokyo to heading North East will be jam at Fukushima, Sendai

Flight & Train will be fully booked out. Japanese people work 365 days only rest in Golden Holiday & 1st of Jan.
They don't care any Remembrance Day.....This is only holiday I can rest in entire year. biggrin.gif

All famous restraurant will be packed with people, famous item in menu will be sold out fast. I give you a example.
My favourite ramen in Kyoto 麺屋 猪一. Dinner open at 17:30, All ramen already sold out at 18:00, People even start line up Q at 16:00 doh.gif

Golden Week for me, even you survive the transport part...you won't get a chances to taste all famous restraurant. My Golden week in Japan, 90% of my Dinner are Family Mart , Lawson & Seicomart (Hokkaido) & my favorite working day survival food restaurant chain which I will post soon on my coming Birthday. brows.gif

Hello1010's CS on Shopee Chat don't look like they do their checks properly. Yesterday said Xperia 5 IV not compatible with their sim but when asked this morning about Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (also using the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor), they said the Samsung phone is compatible with their sim.

When asked further why the different compatibility response when both use the same processor the response again is "worry chipset not supported". After sharing the phone specs on Sony MY's website and also the model's release date, now they say no compatibility issues with Sony. Huh?
