I went to The Curve the other day and the proton representative spoke with me...at one time I chuckled because he told me that this car is designed to compete with

Honda City

Toyota Vios

Perodua Myvi

I chuckled again.

what's wrong with that? if you consider City and Vios without tax, it IS supposed to compete with those cars. It's like that in the export market where Protons are not protected. Sadly they're not doing well because we all know why. Let's hope the Sedan will change that trend wink.gif

Perodua Myvi is the Sedan's closest competitor in its price range in Malaysia.

therefore I see no joke in it.

I didn't say it was a joke did I?

I only mention that I chuckled when he mention that considering I myself drive a Honda City.

Lets say that City and Vios were to sell without tax and the price ranges about the same as this sedan, which would you get? Will you still get the sedan?

Heck as for me I'll buy even two, one Vios and another City.

The built, comfort, sheer driving pleasure, performance is still by far better better compare to sedan even tho City is assembled here.

With that in mind, shouldn't we chuckle when he says this?

I will reserve my judgment until the car comes out, then I'll choose which one to buy. I believe the new MD has what it takes to bring Proton places. I'm very happy with my Satria Neo, first batch but no funny QC problems so far, decent performance and great handling. Definitely better than some higher-priced cars. Honestly I was expecting some Proton nightmares when the car first arrived. Fortunately, so far, owning the Satria Neo has been a memorable experience.

I won't buy one Vios and one City, that's dumb. I would buy something more worth it rather than two entry-level cars. For the price of a Vios and City combined, I'd rather get a Civic 2.0S or Hybrid instead.

Wow, so how do you know that the built, comfort, sheer driving pleasure and performance is better than the New Sedan when it's not even released yet. Amazing.  notworthy.gif

Wait till the Sedan comes out, and we'll see which one's better.

But then again, even if the Sedan does offer better performance, comfort, built and driving pleasure, would Proton bashers admit it?

I don't think so........ whistling.gif

P/S: Don't misinterpret my post by saying that the New Sedan will pwn the City and Vios, I never said that. I just said that it's best that I reserve my judgment and take a look at all three before passing one. wink.gif

Don't get me wrong, I used to drive a proton before I can afford to get a city, but to think when the proton representative tells you that the car is designed to compete with the city and he test drove it and its a wonderful car bla bla, don't you think its pretty funny since this is all based on his individual point of view.

Perhaps it could be their (proton) vision to compete with city , vios but we would not know until we have try it now, would we?

Yeah anyhow its too early for us to judge.

define sheer driving pleasure....
define performance....
and compared to which sedan...
thanks.
smile.gif

built and comfort is subjective,
but city is quite comfortable in its class tho....

Oops you got me there.
The tag was taken from BMW hahaha.

Well comparing with the sedan I was actually referring to waja, we won't know the new sedan until we try it.
