they have extra stock of gen2 rear lights so they just trying to clear up old stock before they can design a new one.. they order in bulk which is cheaper.

Actually I think it's a very wise move to recycle parts...
Can lower the price of the car and prolong spare parts availability...

If add around 3K for the CPS tech to improve performance and fuel economy, I still think it's worth it...
Hopefully they'll add in later during facelift, or offer as upgrade maybe?

With CPS/VIM = More power = Higher FC is acceptable.

BUT..

With CPS/VIM = NO power = Jerky gearbox = Higher FC is NOT acceptable.
*
Actually CPS/VIM is to gain more power without increasing FC... sweat.gif

It's not about we're smart, it's just some people so dumb to talk about car price without tax in Malaysia.

Well, many still think AFTA will come reduce prices...

he jus think only. As all of us will need more time to "monitor" the quality.  biggrin.gif

Hmmm...hopefully won't have any major issues...
Savvy and Neo both are better already, I don't see why Proton will wana put their reputation back at stake by producing problematic Persona... wink.gif

Had a look at the car just now. This one is definitely the most solidly built model to come out of proton yet. The doors shut with a reassuring thud, and there aren't so many unsightly gaps. Headroom is greatly improved compared to the original Gen 2 and overall the car looks and feels decent, with ok plastics&upholstery and a sensible layout. The door handles are more solid than the ugly scratch&win rounded ones in the first batch Gen2, and there is a glove box now. This is the car Proton ought to have introduced when they first released the original Gen 2. With the Persona I finally get the feeling that Proton has listened to the Malaysian public. If only they had listened to the rakyat all along and built a car that Malaysians wanted and needed....
Anyway, I hope for Proton's sake that the Persona does well. I think this car deserves that much, irregardless of who built it.

Just view it during lunch time, both should be the M-line, one pearl white another grey. Interior feels cheap, just like my feel in Viva but in black color and more spacious.

Rear: height is good; width is so-so Waja is better here; leg room is very good.

Front: normal. Steering abit on the cheap side and, ugly.

Door: feels cheap and empty. Very hard to close and cheap to open. Neo, Savvy and MyVi have better doors.

Exterior: As handsome as Gen2.

Verdict: A car is just a car, nothing special. For a local comparison, Savvy, MyVi and Waja interior are better. Boot space is between Vios & City. Sedan for that price is a good buy. But if you are looking for luxurious feel, seek elsewhere as there is none here.

:sigh: 'was hoping it could be better in terms of luxury.

I guess many basher/ppl here are positioning Proton very highly...
The expect that by paying RM55K, Proton can offer then Merc like interior & quality...

Many of them also think that producing a brand new car is really easy...like folding a paper plane... sweat.gif
I don't see what wrong with reusing platform and parts if they can sell the car cheaper...
If they change everything, then ppl will complain overprice like the Viva...

QUOTE(Matrix @ Aug 16 2007, 05:32 PM)
Hmm...some info on Persona's FC

"In consumption, Proton's own tests show that the Wira 1.6 is 10% less thirsty than the Persona"

http://www.motortrader.com.my/NUS/articles...1057/page_m.asp

Errmmm...this means the Persona is has worst FC than a 1.6 Wira?

I thought there's a chart somewhere that shows it's better than a wira...hmmm...
*
It is bcz the Persona is heavier than the Wira...
So, power to weight ratio loose to Wira...
Very sad to hear... doh.gif

i am hopping proton can come out something economical. Very hard to purchase it if the FC is worst than Wira 1.6. In the world of expensive petrol, everybody is thinking which car has better FC.
*
Well, u can see many Gen2, Neo, and Waja Campros now on the road right?
And all those Korean cars too...

That's the figure the Campro 1.6 (A) can manage at 90km/h constant...
Well, Shell proved that by using the right petrol + driving skills + scheduled service & maintenance, a car can do better than the figure the manufacturer publishes... biggrin.gif

6.2 liters for 100km is what P1 said at their website. The real FC will definately worse than that. All car manufacturer do this to make their car looks good.
*
This is where u're wrong...
The VW Golf that used Shell fuel managed better mileage than the manufacturer claims... tongue.gif
