This looks like a great car. But do you think it will destroy the market for Waja and Gen2 since its cheaper ?

But I believe they have to drop the price as well of Waja and Gen2 to compete directly. Maybe make Waja a 1.8, and Gen2 rename as Pesona Aeroback. I really hope they redesign the FRONT hood of Savvy because it looks like a big toilet seat cover.

The Waja 1.8 was a failure coz the Renault engines sourced have problems...
Both cars should still be priced higher than Persona...
Gen2, hatchback version will always be more expensive than sedan...normal market trend...
While Waja is considered as Proton's upper market sedan, like the Civic or Altis...
On the Savvy...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...I don't see anything wrong with it...

Persona 45-55K
Gen2 55-60K
Waja 60-65K

Otherwise they will compete with each other. But Proton always did this in the past, let see how they do it this time

U R WRONG !

the renaults engine doesnt have any problem at all infact is a good engine !
but what make waja 1.8 unpopular is the wrong position of the ECU make it destroyed faster and the frequent of the fan broke and punture the radiator.

by the time proton reposition the ECU and fixed the broken fan problem, the image of waja 1.8 is totally destroyed aedi. !

oh yeah, the ECU problem is not proton fault but it is Renault engineer fault.
proton consulted them in moving hte ECU position but they said it must be there. by the time renault realise that the ECU cannot take the heat of tropical temprature, the image of waja 1.8 is destroyed aedi.

I have seen the Persona up front. Very very BIG improvement compared to the Gen2 shocking.gif

The good:
They fixed the rear headroom problem and now my head don't hit the roof rclxm9.gif
Interior is very classy with fabric on the door panels rclxm9.gif
Seats are comfortable and match the interior fabric: nice rclxm9.gif

Can't comment on the handling since I never test drive.

Some comments:
There is this huge support at the rear seats where they lock onto it when the seats are up. When you put the seats down someone/something will scratch on it.
The spare is a smaller tayar than the road tyres. Heard it can only go about 80km
The steering need to improve alot. The 'mode' button on the steering controls the radio. I was hoping for the dash to show km'l, distance travelled, time elapsed etc, but this is a 55k car anyway.

Conclusion: Worthy successor to the Wira. But will the Wira enjoy an early retirement it has been dreaming for so long?

A waja 1.8 doesnt have to be renault. It can be a Campro 1.8...
Why not? Current Waja 1.6 suffers from underpower.
Savvy should still have a facelift because it is a trend to do minor facelift for each revision to add some spark and extra pizzaz. In fact the other models should too annually

not so easy as u think..... not cheap as u think... imported car still remain expensive car if proton don't appear... cos their hv name..... that y Dr M built proton.... don;t wanna left behind to other country....
*
Ya true, he need to thx you of all proton supporter. now he is relaxing with ton of million by selling exp than exported to foregin country while u guy get the car in 1st 6 month have this problem , that problem. I though that is the way that gov treat their citizen to go support local product. Why they din selling lotus car to us for entry level. in the end, proton is still fail even got so many type special protction from the gov.

Then, we might see the result of persona, hopefully perodua kill the proton.

Where have you been living - under the stone is it.

Savvy's facelifts.
So many improvement in persona over gen2, separate headrest, door trim, interiors, rear headroom etc.
From digital fuel gauge to analogue for more accurate measurement, more variants from low to hi-line.
There are many more besides that.
*
the gauge display is analogue..but inside is using digital to calculate the fuel level..only display different..:>
know it cos it can estimate ur travel distance with current petrol level....if not digital, how they calculate? hehe

10,000 km service change! Thats good savings you know compared to p2. every p2 service costs A BOMB after warranty period. what you save in petrol driving a cheaper car, you will spend on service.

at least they do a new real model that totally change the body n look... the new kancil also came from the 3rd generation of Mira or the early 1995 kancil.. but they do a facelift which totally like a new model..

how bout Proton?? 92 Saga Iswara facelift still same as 2007 Saga LMST.. also the 1995 Perdana...

EK production is ended in 2001 wif EP replacement.. the new City only been introduce in Malaysia in 2002... b4 tat the 1st generation of City from 1996 which Type Z(around 2000-2002 is it??) is basicly the same but difference facelift.. If City using EK chasis it mean the 1996 also same chasis with EK..

i'm not bashing anyway but just sharing my knowledge...

Well, but the bottom line is Proton recycles about 6,000,000,000 ringgit back to malaysian workers pockets each Quarter (1/4 year).

Money that would have gone overseas workers pockets if not for proton.

Er..we all know that,it's suppose to be that way because they want tomake a gen2 sedan. So why do we need to keep saying it look like gen2?
*
I had visited the showroom and perform QC check on the car.

Pro
1. Overall persona much better quality compare to GEN2.
2. Space much better. Head no more hit the roof in back sit.
3. Cheaper.

Con
1. The first batch should be modified from GEN2 body. Please check the back booth. Open the compartment that keep the spare tire. You will able to see the connection being done.
2. Heavy. Question on the petrol consumption.
3. Spare tire. Different compare to the standard tired.
