wanna ask u guys who are familiar with oc-ing is it necessary to upgrade northbridge heatsink as well?? cause my asus P5K-R board sometimes can go up to a very high temperature (100c) when running stress testing around 8 hours...then it will auto restart it self..idle is around 40+c.. checked using the PC probe is 100+c, and checked from bios it shows "minus" -92c..really weird

QUOTE(prescott @ Nov 15 2007, 01:27 PM) depends ur OC level. If u push ur mobo to max, its better to install heatsink. since stock heatsink is for stock speed. . Did u update latast bios? i dont really push to max though if im not mistake northbridge control cpu, ram, and gpu rite?? mine is E6750 @ 3.5Ghz 1.4v using G-power pro, KVR 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v @ 840mhz the problem is the cpu doesnt give me a problem with temperature only the mobo temp is higher than cpu temp and my northbridge heatsink already has the heat pipe, so wouldnt it be a waste?? or should i just get a fan sticked on the heatsink?? QUOTE(kennji @ Nov 15 2007, 02:24 PM) try to wire up a fan to blow at your NB and see if it helps. most probably bad airflow in your case? those factory heatpipes fitted in newer mobo should generally be enough even for your current oc settings, of course with decent airflow that is...
thats the pic, and i dont think the airflow is bad though yeah maybe i should just try wiring up a small fan on the NB btw, the mobo temp showing in the PC probe is it NB temp or SB?? or it is combined??

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Feb 3 2008, 11:11 PM) you will need around 1.45V to be at least able to do 440Mhz on the FSB. and a bump on the Vnb and put a fan on the NB. Check your heat dissipation on the proc as well. now im putting Vnb @ 1.25..how much higher should i put?? the next level is 1.4v, isn't that a little too high?? for now, i dont think i have a problem with temp, idle around 26-30c running @ 3.36Ghz i will try increasing the Vcore again then
