Hello everyone,
I would like to seek your help on feedback on a product purchase. I will be using the apple macbook for work mainly and basic games (Diablo/StarCraft). New Macbook Air 2020 vs Second Hand Macbook Pro 2016 (Retina, No-Touch Bar) The price is about similar which is sub RM4000.00. Thank you so much. |

QUOTE(Evirober @ Mar 20 2020, 08:01 PM) Hello everyone, What kind of work? I have the 2017 nTB Pro (Should be similar in spec to the 2016 you're looking at).I would like to seek your help on feedback on a product purchase. I will be using the apple macbook for work mainly and basic games (Diablo/StarCraft). New Macbook Air 2020 vs Second Hand Macbook Pro 2016 (Retina, No-Touch Bar) The price is about similar which is sub RM4000.00. Thank you so much. I've tried playing D3 on it before...if you're just gonna play casually (Single player campaigns and what not) it's not too shabby. If you're thinking of doing rifts, especially at higher difficulties, you're gonna want to crank down the graphics since it starts to lag with all the things going on in the background. As for work, mine is mostly used for document editing (Latex, Microsoft suite and occasionally with the Apple's suite) and web browsing. Biggest advantage of being in the eco system is that everything syncs across all your device. Workflow is much easier so your train of thought don't get derailed too much. Having said all that, if you're looking for portability, the MBP is ever so slightly heavier than the Air. Light as the MBP already is, the Air is lighter still. A good laptop is one that you want to take with you everywhere you go. Myself, I use it more in clamshell mode now, paired to a monitor. Much much better productivity. Might I suggest the Macbook (the 12" one) if you're thinking more on work-on-the-go scenarios? It's powerful enough for coding (On Python) but super light so it can be lugged anywhere. At least that's what my friend tells me. It should be around your budget as well. Look up Lazada...I think I saw it going for about 3.6k-ish. |

Comparing to 2018/2019 MBA, still worth getting the older version (hoping for price drop)

This. Why oh why Apple would continue to screw up on this one? Or they wanted customers to get the upcoming MBP 2020 which will have all the proper designs? How typical of Apple. |
