The problem with folio keyboards is that the bottom of the screen is frequently very difficult to get to. So if you're hitting a menu choice that is close to the keyboard, it's harder than it should be. Gestures (four finger swipe from the bottom of the screen for example) are also impossible.

... which is why a floating screen is a very good idea.

Got my 11’” Magic Keyboard from Machines at Gardens. Not sure how many they had in stock. The 12” was available at iStore in Digital Mall yesterday.

Have to admit, this is probably the best keyboard I’ve ever used with an iPad. I have the tiny ZAGG Folio with my iPad mini and while that is super sexy... this is much more useable.

Cancelled my Magic Keyboard which has been on order at the online Apple Store for the past couple of weeks. Machines is selling the 11” for RM1349. Online is RM1249. Go figure....

My bad, just checked my refund, is indeed the same price. Apologies to Machines.

My main take of the magic keyboard is it allows for gestures and easy access to the bottom of the iPad screen. If you use the swipe from bottom to close apps and to switch apps, that’s very difficult to do with a folio keyboard. It’s very usable with the screen floating half an inch above the keyboard.

Typing as I’ve said earlier is very easy. Trackpad I’ve not had much use for. I guess I’m not used to having it there. I know that when I go back to my MBP 16”, I keep trying to touch the screen. You have to keep reminding yourself what device you’re using.

I’m using this iPad with a CaseBuddy which works very well for protection and also to keep the pencil in place. A must-have IMHO. Glad I got it.

There were two at iStore Digital Mall on Sunday. Of that I am certain. I wanted the 11” so I checked both....

They are worth getting. Despite the high price. Finally, an iPad is a worthy laptop replacement.

No idea. With social distancing precautions in place, you queue. Tell the staff in the queue what you are interested in, it's brought to the counter so when you finally get to enter the store you go straight to the counter, pay and leave.

You do have the option to browse the store but since my item was already at the counter (and I wanted to cancel my online order immediately) I just paid and left.

I placed an order for my iPad Pro 11 (engraved) / ApplePencil (engraved) and Magic Keyboard on 29 April.

My iPad arrived on 5th May, My Pencil today 12th May.

My Magic Keyboard i cancelled on getting one from Machines yesterday.

I like having the iPad and Pencil engraved with my phone number though... not that I've ever lost either

It's not hardware, but cloud integration that would make the combination of MacOs and iOs work. Having your files on iCloud and therefore available on your iPhone, iPad or Mac is very convenient. I've got a 2Tb subscription. Which is enough for the whole family.

The cover material is identical to the folio keyboard, the keys themselves like a macbook pro. So if you've stained either, you'd stain this one too.

I am quite happy with the build quality. I think it's worth the asking price. I have the (non trackpad) version of the Brydge keyboard and the Magic is much superior.

Order online from Apple. The price is the same and if you need to return it for whatever reason, it's actually easier.

For me the only reason I buy from a regular shop anymore is when it's immediately available. The online wait for iPads is less than a week anyways.

Not true. I bought a iPhone 11Pro for the wife. I spec-ed a 128Gb, She wanted a 256Gb.

Apple allowed a return and exchange. And paid for shipping back to them.

No issues.

I've returned a defective AppleTV bought online too but that required a trip to Machines to return. The replacement was shipped.

might have been a 64 then... In any case, it was switched for a 256 without hassle.

Well, I can attest that they did allow exchange of my iPhone. It was unopened though.

What is even more interesting was that they shipped the replacement before I shipped the return.

But that was likely because DHL here were slow to pick up the return item.

Actually, between my iPadPro 11 and Magic Keyboard and the iPadMini with a Zagg Folio.... I find I usually bring the Mini. It's just so much easier to use... I know people complain about the side bezels but I like having the button to unlock. And since you type so close to the screen, you don't really need a trackpad.
