Apple is going way high end here with the new iPad Pros. The 12.9 inch model starts at the same price with the new MacBook Air, but it’s 128GB vs 256GB on the MBA.

Once you add in the Pencil and the insanely expensive Magic Keyboard, it will be the price of the MBP, but again it’s 128GB vs 256GB.

You have to be really sure of what you need when you buy this iPad Pro. If it’s gonna be your main computer, are you sure the MBA or the upcoming 14 inch MBP won’t be better for day-to-day productivity? If it’s gonna be your supplemental device to your main machine, are you sure the iPad Air/regular iPad can’t do the same job?

Valid points. But I think that's just where the trend is headed. A 8/128 Surface Pro X with the keyboard and pen will also cost RM5.3k. For that amount of money, I'd get a MBP too smile.gif

RM1349 for the 11 inch Magic Keyboard
RM1549 for the 12.9 inch Magic Keyboard

I can get iPad 7th Gen for the price of that keyboard laugh.gif

Hahaha, true. Add that to the price of the iPad and you could get a Macbook instead too.

Haha that depends if you really need a laptop or not.

More most occasions, iPads are enough. The versatility is what makes it unique.

If treat it like a case and pay more still acceptable.

Becos if want to buy a case also not cheap for iPad Pro.

Ya, it can be argued that with iPadOS, the iPad is now more versatile, but I'm not sure if it is a complete replacement for a laptop just yet. Either way, as JerryRig would say, it's definitely a step in the right direction.

A good 3rd party keyboard case will probably costs about RM300-RM400, a non-keyboard one probably RM150 or so. Asking RM1000 and above for a keyboard case is pushing it for me smile.gif

Ya, so true. Looks like we might get 128GB base storage iPhones come end of the year.

It’s indeed cheaper than hk. I just compared this morning, was thinking to wait for local set or Malaysian set. Malaysia is indeed one of the cheapest country to purchase a iOS devices few years back. But price was shot up in recent years.

Different need state versus a laptop - but yes I agree that its almost there. Ironically its leaning more towards a laptop now than a phone

why the trackpad when you're in iPad?
Most of the MBP will dump trackpad if we have touchscreen but why the new iPad...
it's like reversed engineering thinking
any possible function for this particular trackpad?

Worth buying? any significant diff with 2018 version?

Aesthetic wise totally the same as 2018 besides the rear camera...so if you’re using one then almost no reason to upgrade..biggrin.gif

It’s never meant to be a large screen phone, although arguably when it was first launched it did feel like just a big a$$ iPhone back then. But with iPadOS and the USB C adoption, it’s clear that Apple now wants this shift to a laptop replacement. We’ll see how it pans out. Are you getting one bro?

Usually we’ll be in the second or third wave launch countries, but now the only “wave” to be concerned with is that to do with Covid19 laugh.gif

True, and the old one supports the magic keyboard too. I’m not opposed to getting the older one if it is discounted significantly by maxis in the upcoming days or weeks.

Same here. I like that the base storage is now doubled, 128GB seems more reasonable. The one thing I don't like is that I think this iPad Pro will be every bit as fragile as the last one and will bend easily with pressure!
