Which prosumer camera is recommended? I'm now looking at both Canon 5S IS and DSC-H9. Decision not made. I do not have any prior experience or knowledge on photography. Hoping to get a prosumer camera to start with. Any recommendation or advice? My budget would be < RM2000.

I think Canon is better compare to sony. All my 2 camera is canon. I advise u to go for G7. It's about RM 1799. Recommend Camera Canon G7.

Under 2k, I'd go for Powershot G7 too. Unless the super zoom is an absolute requirement.

i thnk s5 is the better option. but do reconsider ur options. because if u want to become a serious photographer later, it is best that u search for a 2nd hand d-slr now. dont regret it later. im regretting now bcoz last time i bought s3 then i become interested with photography and become jealous with the d-slr capabilities. should hve bought a dslr and learn it slowly rather than waste buy s3 then need to waste again buy dslr.

both camera got problem with high ISO (>400). S5 got hot shoe while H9 no hot shoe. flash wise, i think H9 is a bit stronger.

I totally agree. I bought my first digital, the sony H5 because felt DSLR might be too complicated. Sold the H5 for half the original price in the end because all it is useful for is it's superzoom.

And probably this is the wrong thread to ask. But since you did, you can take a look at either the Nikon D40X or Canon 400D kit packages......
