Apple's Magsafe charger works and connects magnetically to the Fold 2. Wonder if the Apple Wallet that attaches magnetically works the same way?

Or is this blasphemous? Samsung and Apple abomination working together. puke.gif 15W max wireless only charge, folks.

Last piece of the puzzle arrived.

The Kickstand version.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I feel that the kickstand is stronger than the Aramid case kickstand, although I prefer the Aramid case position of the kickstand.

The bump of the kickstand providing unintended advantage over the non-kickstand version, grippable protrusion that slides between my fingers providing better grip than the non-kickstand version.

Either way, I'm still adjusting/conflicted between putting sticker to completely "rigidify" the front case, or leaving it on its own. I've put the case on and off multiple times now, and no signs of the defects so much portrayed on GalaxyFold subreddit, that I'm thinking either he got a defective version of the case, or he applied stronger adhesive that eats into the case that resulted in the damage he had, or it's an attempt to smear the reputation of VRS so that Fold users buy other brands like UAG or Spigen.

Then go naked.

As for the weight, you're another case of "me and first impression without physically handling it yourself". I had the impression that this is a crappy case without actually inspecting the case personally. I've made my apologies to VRS for making such impression before holding it it my hands personally. Actual handling of the case totally changed my impression.

As for your impression that it's heavy, then the case has succeeded in giving the impression that it's heavy like the metal it's faking itself as. That's a success in my book. In reality? It's lighter than the Aramid case. Again, never assume.

I guess it depends on your hand size. I can palm a basketball myself, so this case is perfect for me. In fact, the case even adds material to the side of the phone, so that I dont feel anxious every time I unfold the phone because the sides of the phone naked are so thin I cant grab on to it to properly unfold the phone. Too much pressure, the phone will fly out of my hands, too little pressure it will slip out of my hands for not enough force to overcome the hinge tightness.

To each his own. I thought I left the fickle crowd over there in GalaxyFold subreddit. Here still got apparently.

Continue assuming please. Your usage and physical needs are different than mine.

Not all posts in Reddit are fickle and empty of content like the GalaxyFold subreddit.

Found this gem of a post in the SamsungDex subreddit, that TOTALLY SOLVED the problems of app not going full screen and apps not supported in Dex Mode.

And I quote this brilliant workaround by u/mevans75502:-

QUOTE
"Theres a way aroud that "app is not supported in Dex mode" Got to" Settings: Samsung Dex: About Dex": Click on the "Samsung Dex" logo 5 times, it will turn on developer settings, go to "Samsung Dex Labs" tab, make sure "Force apps to resize" option is turned on. Go back to" Settings: About Phone", click on the "Software information" and click the "Build Number" 5 times to turn on Developer optons (shows up at the bottom of Settings), click on "Developer options", scroll down to Apps section and make sure "Force activities to be resizable" is turned on. Restart the phone (madatory... does not work without it), boot up and then try apps like Prime in Dex mode. When you have done that process there should not be any app that does not work in Dex mode."

Now ALL apps previously not working in Samsung Dex, works AND in full screen as well. Developer mode to the rescue. I can now use my crypto apps working in full screen, instead of only on the larger canvas of the inner screen, with Samsung Dex on my portable USB-C screen , along with portable mouse and keyboard, this setup is perfect for monitoring my trades in crypto. Particularly important since last midnight when Bitcoin went parabolic after the Paypal/Venmo crypto acceptance announcement today. Just made a couple of hundred USD with this morning crypto trade & price action. biggrin.gif Maybe use some of those profits for nicer outdoor portable working accessories for the Fold. rclxms.gif

Speaking of developers, I find better more technical posts in XDADev section of Fold 2. Just my kind of posts, technical and nerdy, my cup of tea/mug of beer. grin.gif Not looking into modding or TWRP the Fold just yet, but the brave souls of XDADevs have got that down already.

Just got my nano gel strip delivered. The plan is to use those strip (cut into narrow pieces) like a gasket to seal the VRS case into place stopping the front case sliding around. Without the adhesive effect or residue. Gonna experiment on one front case since I've two.

Results will report in later. Lunch and Borat 2: The Subsequent Moviefilm is waiting in the entertainment room. Very Nice! laugh.gif

I hope samsung takes time to built and improves the fold 3. No need to rush.. s-pen integration to the fold is a must to take advantage of the screen estate. Make it fold flatter, currently still not nice.  Makes the main screen stronger and more durable. I will patiently wait for it. I have high hope for gen 3
*
I sure hope they’ll conveniently forget to jack up the price with the addition of Note features into the Fold. RM8k is already eye-wateringly expensive. Stronger , more durable foldable glass would mean the fold radius be larger, making the hinge to accomodate a larger folding radius, resulting in fatter folded Fold. Seeing the aversion and complaints of the crowd in here at the slightest addition of “thick” case, I don’t think a thicker Fold would quiet them down. I’ll be happy if Samsung can somehow break the law of physics ( stronger more durable , tighter angle folding screen? Stronger display layer implies less flexible folding angle), heck, I’ll be the first to trade in my Fold 2 for that but I don’t see that happening, but like I said, if that happens Samsung will have my RM8K ( if the price stays at 8k with all those features in, RM10k Fold 3 with Note-scribbling folding display? mega_shok.gif )

I feel that the S lineup will kill the Note lineup, with the rumor of upcoming S21/S30 including an S-Pen without a pen silo in the body. It’s the result of the S series growing larger in size, almost making the Note redundant with its only attraction being its S-Pen.

I agree with xisan , share away. That way it'll give us Fold 2 users a glimpse of what to expect.

As for my leap of faith experiment, with the Neno Gel Strip, I feel like MacGyver now. laugh.gif It's nerve-wracking to even paste a small piece i cut onto the front case, and I gritted my teeth when I peel it off, fully expecting it to take the case paint away like that linked subreddit case, but, I'm seriously surprised how much the Nano Gel material just slides away when peeled, leaving no residue whatsoever. In fact it felt slightly greasy when peeled away, it glides away. With the 1mm strip i ordered, it's PERFECT thickness without making the case feel lumpy because of the cushioning gel material thickness. I even taken the case off anf putting it back on, after the third time, the sticking power felt reduced but the front case still stays solidly stationary in place. After applying 4 freshly cut strip into the the edges, it now felt like the front cover is part of the Fold. I'll have to seriously thank my cosplaying buddy for suggesting the Nano Gel to me. I know how enterprisingly clever these cosplaying folks in prepping their costumes, I never thought their knowledge in keeping their costumes together would worth on keeping phone cases onto phones! laugh.gif I'm seriously going to belanja him lunch or dinner on day, or maybe just surprise him with a Foodpanda delivery to his place. biggrin.gif

If anybody wanna give their Fold case a tighter grip to their Folds if they keep move around, here's the tape I ordered.

https://shopee.com.my/product/92529152/4701686514

For RM1.80, you cant go wrong. Just remember, the key to is to cut narrow strips, narrower than the bezels of your case so that it doesn't "spill over" the sides when you squish it tight into place. If you're in doubt, remember to try a small piece of the strip then try peeling it off, see if that pulls away your case material. My VRS case material didn't. Your mileage may vary with other cheaper cases, consider yourselves warned. In short, try it on your case without your Fold in, and pull it away, see if it chips away your case material. The Nano Gel material is more like those non-slip pads you use inside your car, with silky sticking property. Leaving zero residue when removed.

Your call. Oh look at that, I ran out of post quota again. Until 12 hours later, dasvidanya!.

So close to freedom, one more post to 50, and i'm free from this posting prison. rclxm9.gif

Let this be my 50th, post-prison-breaking post rclxm9.gif

https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comment...utm_name=iossmf

I’ve been using WallPix for my video wallpaper needs, but those video wallpapers are sick! Coming from this YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP554b-nJfaIOIiRKsGnY3Q , plenty of awesome material there. Only problem is, need to download them off YouTube and edit them into 15 second chunks. Will dive deep into this later, maybe even link those 15 second video wallpapers here, will see how. Currently busy handling my crypto trades on my other screens. Gotta make some $$$ drool.gif

EDIT: The person behind that Youtube channel I linked, Visual Don, has his own monetized download for his looped videos here (https://visualdon.uk/downloads/), so I'm not gonna deprive the man of his choice to monetize his own creations, I respect that notworthy.gif . Head to that link if you're interested.Outstanding video loops there.

Thanks to Visual Don's video loops, I've become so adept crafting 15s video wallpapers, it's a freaking workflow smooth like butter now. Using Avidemux to snip and loop short 7s clips into 15s ones.

Currently using Visual Don's "The Anomaly" for the front screen video wallpaper,

And the glorious "Interstellar" for the inside unfolded larger Fold screen

, to make it as if when you unfold the Fold, you've "fold" space-time into the alien planet. biggrin.gif Freaking glistening and sharp at 1080p.

Just remember you can download the uncompressed 1080p version for free at his website https://visualdon.uk/downloads/. I feel bad downloading them for free (even when it IS FREE), I've donated to his paypal for such phenomenal work. Hope he makes more. Some are not available on his site and only on his Youtube channel, but I dont want to download a compressed version of these video loops from Youtube, compared to the uncompressed clean version on his site.

When laying flat folded & unfolded, does the kickstand bump causes the phone to wobble? Like if we try to type when the phone open at 90 degree laying on the side with the kickstand...

Is the front cover sides solid hard or flexing material?

Can't find any video on this case experience sharing on YouTube yet. Will be good if you could do one.

Thanks.
*
Physics and its shape dictates that it will wobble. The only way it wont wobble if the 4 feets at the bottom of the case is as tall as the case is thickened by the stand. If you're worried about wobble, get the non-kickstand version, that one is flush flat with the surface it rests on with the 4 feets on its corner lifting it up enough to stay slightly above the camera bump. Are you not worried about the case making the phone "bulky" like many around here worried about? Slim cases not bulky but you'll be playing Russian roulette with the camera glasses, but I guess folks here aren't as worried about it I guess. thumbup.gif

The case material is as plastic as plastic comes, molded plastic. Plastic when thick is rigid, right? When thin what happens? Flex or solid hard? Later if VRS makes solid hard people complain bulky AND heavy. Kenot break rules of physics bro. You either have it light but flexing, but sturdy enough to withstand knocks, or thick and bulky and heavy, people complain more later.

Yes the kickstand on this is stronger than Aramid without a doubt. My Aramid kickstand I can see it bending under load, but thats what happen when thin and "not bulky". Give and take, pros and con. The VRS kickstand only stands one direction, not long enough to stand the other 90 degrees direction you're asking for. Look at the many promo photos of the case and the kickstand size and orientation, it will only stand one position, standing it in the direction you're asking about will close it shut due to the weight and the bulk of the phone. The Aramid stand also can only stand in one direction only, standing it in other direction, you can, but the weight of the phone will cause the stand to bend and become unstable. Anyway I'm not testing the stands in other directions not shown in the product guide. I suggest you either get the non-stand version or the GKK AI Autofocus case and get a separate stand.

Uncle Mikhail got no nice setup to make weejio. Plus Uncle Mikhail don't want make weejio for fickle subreddit crowd to whine and complain later. If it not MCO, Uncle Mikhail dont mind meeting so niece and nephew can look yourself, wear mask okay? But, what to do? Haiyaaaaa!

Speaking of the GKK Autofocus case, I'm waiting for the Misty Gold color version to become available on Shopee. A seller in Seremban is bringing it in, but as with all products shipped from China, "preorder 10 days". You can bring it in yourself and deal with the shipping in, I did that once with the envelope style leather pouch, I dont wanna go through that crap again. Let others deal with that crap bringing it in, I'll just get it off him when it's in the country.

Why another case, you ask? I think I've mentioned before that without that hideous AI Autofocus lettering, it would be a handsome case, before I grew fond of my VRS case and the Nano Gel strip DIY I've MacGyvered on it, I love it now. But I put my Shopee coin where my mouth is, so I'm getting the GKK Autofocus case just so that I can see if I like it enough to at least say I've tried it (not just base my impresions of what others are saying about it, I made that mistake with the VRS case, by listening to the whiners in Reddit, no more!), who knows, maybe I can use whiteboard marker pen the camera bump section and color it off that way. laugh.gif

Uh oh, just something to consider if you're using the GKK AI Autofocus case that covers the whole camera bump, compared to other cases that has open camera bump.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comment...web2x&context=3

QUOTE
"AI Autofocus" case flaw: Does it block the microphone in the back camera housing?
The back camera bump has a tiny (like really small) microphone on the right side of the housing (looks like tiny space between the back of the phone and the camera bump). It looks like the "AI Autofocus" is covering the entire camera bump and thus blocking that microphone completely.

That microphone may be used when taking videos or for noise cancellation when speaking on the phone using a speakerphone.

Just be aware there's a mic on the camera bump the GKK AI Autofocus case is covering.

Peace of mind from a piece of digital certificate. RM600 is decently cheap, before one year is up I may go and send it in for screen replacement for that amount to make the screen feel fresh and new. biggrin.gif

Lots of small print legalese at page 2 and 3 of the certificate, including the fact why I say it's not worth to get extended warranty and how SME define the warranty. Ala carte much,Samsung? shakehead.gif
