imo, this is the problem with the insurance industry: PERCEPTION vs EXPECTATION

we were sold/advised by agents on the PERCEPTION that the policy benefits/premium is "locked" or perpetual throughout its validity.

good, honest, and ethical agents would inform about the COI, sustainability and provides explanation. we are free to keep asking for details anyway. However, not all could/would understand fully the tail-end impact; and agents would likely "skim" through the explanation, for now, since they want you to know the protection/benefits you could gain for short term period.

in the long run until age 70/80/90+, nobody dares to give solid explanation because of the uncertainties (ie medical insurance cost increase). we would expect buying insurance is to protect us from THAT increase by locking the policy/premium NOW.

also, the way insurance is structured, cant blame the agents entirely.


the EXEPECTION from us, however, is simpler. I want to pay X amount that i agreed, on monthly-basis (example), and forever pay that premium so that I "know" there wont be more burden/commitment in the future until my age 70/80/90+.


in reality, based on how the insurance structured, majority of us would get shocked/uneasy with the way insurance agency "markup or increase" premium as and when they want (less knowledge/understanding about COI and sustainability of their policy)


imo, there's no right or wrong, but more to education and awareness particularly to COI/sustainability instead of plainly policy coverage (which can be spelled out in tens of pages easily by insurance providers).

AXA Affin introduces 1st customisable insurance package

AXA Affin Life Insurance Bhd is introducing AXA eCombo, the first customisable online insurance which combines medical insurance (AXA eMedic), critical illness (AXA eCritical Early Care) and life insurance (AXA eLife Protector+) in one complete package.

The 3-in-1 package aims to offer a solution to customers’ current need of a single comprehensive insurance package with one affordable monthly payment.

The AXA eCombo provides customers one complete package which addresses all their medical insurance needs.

Under the AXA eMedic, policyholders will have access to over 150 panel hospitals nationwide with cashless admission for hospitalisation. It will also cover hospital bills with an annual limit of up to RM100,000 with no lifetime limit.

The AXA eCritical Early Care provides policyholders with a sum insured of up to RM250,000 which covers 50 critical illnesses, whereby medical conditions from an early stage will receive a payout of 50% of the sum insured and a 100% pay-out for advanced stage.

The AXA eLife Protector+ policyholders are insured up to RM250,000 for natural death, accidental death or total permanent disability (TPD). This includes a 100% pay-out for death and TPD, while a 200% pay-out for accidental death.

AXA Affin Malaysia country manager Emmanuel Nivet said with the Covid-19 crisis, people’s priorities have shifted to comprehensive coverage without the hassle of managing a few insurance policies, often with different companies and many monthly premium payments.

“Customers want convenience, complete protection and affordability in their insurance products especially given the higher risks we face in current times.

“AXA eCombo is our commitment to support Malaysians and meet their evolving needs with products that are affordable and easy to manage especially now when they need the most support,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The AXA eCombo is available exclusively online at www.axaecombo.com, for Malaysians aged 15 days old to 49 years old, with an insurance coverage that extends to the age of 80 years.

Customers can customise the coverage and benefits and get a quote immediately based on factors such as their needs and budget.

In just a few 10-minute steps, approval is instant and coverage immediate.

Premiums start from as low as RM71 per month to allow those who are just starting out or have a young family to still have comprehensive coverage instead of compromising on what type of protection plan they can afford.

Additionally, customers will also have the option to increase or reduce coverage for each plan within the AXA eCombo package according to the preferred coverage amount.

The combo package is flexible whereby customers can select one, two or all three insurance plans.

Emmanuel said the insurance provider understands that customers today require more than a one-size-fit-all solution.

“Needs and budgets will vary from customer to customer and this is the beauty of insurtech. At AXA Affin, our product innovation is based on four pillars, namely instant, effortless, customised and affordable,” he added.

The insurance package is available online. Alternatively, customers can also contact the official AXA online assistant via WhatsApp.

In conjunction with the launch of AXA eCombo, AXA Affin Life Insurance will be organising a two-month wellness virtual series from Dec 2020 until Jan 2021.

It is also joining hands with local celebrities, influencers and performers in a fun series to touch on topics relating to health, fitness, nutrition, beauty and entertainment.
