Wondering how much this guitar cost now? Bought it at Bentley Bukit Bintang sometimes in 1991 (before Nirvana's Nevermind came out).

Check from here https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/fender/...serial%20number said this was made in 1999, so that cant be right.

Anyway, any recommended (and cheap) place to change frets nearby Puchong area?

+3kk!

Cant remember the exact price but I bought together with a small 10w marshall amp less than 2k altogether.

The words "cheap" and "refret" in the same sentence usually spells disaster. Better to get it done properly by a real professional tech/luthier and pay a fair price, or else just buy a new replacement neck for an American Standard Stratocaster and save the old neck (as stock) for when/if you intend to sell the guitar in the future. Many places screw up refret work as it's a painstaking process and not many techs have the patience or the eye for detail to pull this off. And if they don't do it properly, then you'll end up buying a new neck anyway.

From the photo, I reckon that you may not need to change the frets so soon, but maybe send it for fret leveling. Read this: https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Unde...s_and_Fret_Wear

As for the serial number, many Strats produced in 1990 have the N9 prefix followed by 5 digits, just like Strats produced in 1999.

Another way to verify the production period is to dismantle the pickguard and check that the pickup cavity is "swimming pool routed" (or not). And you can also ascertain if the guitar has the TBX tone control knob for the bridge pickup; more info: https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/The_..._Control_Part_1

I have a stock '94 American Standard Strat which is presently valued around RM3.5K that I bought stateside for US$625. In the early 1990s, the exchange rate was around 2.75 MYR to 1 USD and an American Strat sold for under $600 in the USA. You must have bought the guitar at Bentley Music when it was still a small shop on the 1st floor?
