This model uses the blade-type SSD, you'll need to either buy the adaptor or buy a different SSD.

If i use the adaptor, would it be stable? Any issues? Crash, hang?

If im not mistaken it's a NVMe SSD, or M2 SSD can fit in

Apple uses propriety pin/slot for the removable Flash Storage. Off-the-shelves NVMe or M2 will not fit directly.

Converter adapter exist, reliability is a big question.

if this is your main / work Mac, don't take the risk with adapters.
the question is not "will it be stable" because no one can answer that.
the question is "if it doesn't work tomorrow morning, how much will it mess me up? smile.gif
that's why when I had to replace the SSD for a 2013 MBP, I bought this, > https://www.lazada.com.my/products/transcen...s565218537.html

even though its expensive... the peace of mind is worth it.

Isn’t 256 the base storage that came with 15” retinas. That isn’t an upgrade.

@anonymous34 I don't know what @deejay_krish has... maybe he has a 128 or 256 ...
Transcend has different storage capacities, what I was saying is they have a part that's designed to work properly, without adapters.

I am thinking of upgrading my mid 2013 MBA SSD from 256 to 1TB.. Can easily find those M2 PCIe adapter from Lazada but I am only worry about the replacement SSD size so not yet decided to know what brand of SSD to purchase.. Saw many China Macbook user successfully upgraded their SSD without much of issue but good to take a look on the link here before making your decision.. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrad...2-nvme.2034976/
