Taken using this setup of my SB-600. I think all shots were brought down one stop exposure.

Your bug shots are focused in the wrong are coz u have part of your bug focused and the wall focused but the body of the bug isn't focused.
Im guessing your main focus point is on the bugs head and feelers. If you focus on the middle of the body at aperture f/22+ the whole bug should be in focus.
with close up filter you lose a lot of D.O.P.

just my 2cents..

Thanks for sharing. But with f/22, I would need to use flash is it?

Here's another one taken with 50mm with +4

This is shot at f/4
user posted image

And this at f/14

user posted image

f/14 is so much softer right? I took at f/22 too as suggested by Ahboiz. But i think it was even worse.

I want to take the picture of this coin sharper generally, not just certain parts.

Come someone advice me?

thank you.

i thought i mentioned that the close up filter makes your subject blur if u push..u try f/32 at the closest focusing distants and than try f/8. Instead of f/32 sharper its damn soft. Close up filter make you sacrifice.
If you take off the filter and shoot at f/32 it will be clear.

Sorry if i forgot to mention.. doh.gif doh.gif

On my 50mm, it can only go up to f/22.

I tried at f/22 and the picture was blur.

I got better results with f/8.

From what I read, f8 is the optimum aperture for overall lens. f22 will cause light deflection or something like that. It's not a defect, it's physics.

That can be easily fixed via auto level. Though I would have preferred if it's taken from a higher angle.
