Hello sifus,

Planning to buy MBP for photo editing, video editing, streaming, etc.

Should i buy the Macbook Pro 13" mid-2019 or wait for a new release maybe in June?

I saw a MBP mid-2019 on Shopee 256gb for RM5799, so quite within my budget haha

The MacBook Pro 13" 2019 is a superb value-for-money notebook. Had one when I was frequently travelling. Superb Quad-Core i5 performance. All the previous MacBook Pro 13" in year 2018 and earlier are much slower in comparison.

Rumours have it that the new MacBook Pro 13" may actually be a MacBook Pro 14" (since the bezels will be slimmed down), and if so, I would reckon they would be priced higher.

I actually love the butterfly keyboard. The tactile feedback is so good, really. Just sad that they are not reliable.

Normal scissor keyboards have a somewhat mushy feel.

Wait.

If the new 16" is anything to go by, the refreshed 13 will see a faster, more energy efficient machine at the same price point but with a much better keyboard, screen and internals.

Only thing is, our ringgit is headed down....

Yes, I’m not in a rush to get one but I’m worried that the new one will be priced higher. But I have plans to buy it while I’m in the US this year. Maybe ill get a better deal over there?

If you delay purchase of hardware, you can be sure you'd always get better a faster processor, better specs for the same coin. However, you'd lose out on being productive with your machine in that same time...

I don't think pricing is all that different between US and Malaysia. There may be deals to be had that are unavailable here but for that a certain amount of luck would be required.

In any case. I'd wait for the refresh. Especially given how much better the 16" is over the 15"

I guess i'll give it a wait. Rumour has it that the refresh might come at the end of March in the next Apple event.

Hope it'll be refreshed soon!

personally think if they come out a new gen of mac, it will be the 1st batch. Apple 1st batch will always be alot problems and issues.

In another way, 2019 mbp is last batch of the gen, so for stability and problemless, i think nothing wrong v this one.

i jst got mine 2019 mbp 256gb too haha

Maybe you can wait, it should be more value able. If the new one cost much, then you can go for 2019 model. The 2019 model price will drop once the new one is up.
