Hi guys,
Just got a 2140 and a Gigabyte P35 DS3L yesterday.
Anyhow, the 2140 vcore is supposedly 1.35 volt is that correct?
But mobo show show normal vcore hovering at 1.18.....so is that normal or what (default setting)?
Do I have to manually set it to 1.35 volt?

Edit:
I'm not sure I'm doing this right, please comment on it.
1) I lowered the ram multiplier to 2, so that a 667 runs at 400 (read some guide that you need to reduce the speed, because it will be increased linearly with cpu frequency)
2) Lowered the CPU multiplier from 8 to 7 (read somewhere that it is more stable to do so)
3) Increase CPU Host frequency slowly from 200

Is it true that a higher FSB is better even though the end result is the same?
Example:
7x350 better than 8x306?

Thanks.

Guys, thanks for the input.
Anyhow, my final result is this
Multipler x8
FSB 300
Final Speed 2.4ghz
Ram ratio I dropped to 2, (so from upping the FSB, it raise from 400 - 600)

Idling at around 40c (did nothing with the stockfan except slap on some arctic5)

I can't set the ram ratio at 3.33, because when I raise the FSB, and the ram breaches the 800 point, it will definitely crash. Is that normal?
I'm using cheapo kingston 667.

Anyhow, Im quite satisfied. When I bought my 24" benq, I was pissed cause I couldnt play 1080p movies smoothly. Tried to play the same movie at factory 1.6ghz, and still as slow as my AMD64 2ghz. Clock that baby to 2.4 and its smooth as butter.

imagine clocking it to 3ghz+ wouldnt that be like lubricant? LOL

Yeah.
But even with 25-30% cpu usage, after an hour, it seems to idle at 47c..fan speed around 1870 rpm. Is this considered hot or just the limitation of the cheapo stockfan?
Edit: I'm monitoring it through the EasyTune5 that comes with gigabyte.

bryanyeo: Thanks for the tip. If I disable 'Automatic fan speed' in the bios, then by default it will run at full speed, right?

Some other question:
1) Easytune report ram volt as 2.1 (but I let all the volt as default)
the bios dont seem to monitor ram volt?
2) I cant seem to be able to set the Performance to Standard if I overclock, is this is a normal behavior? (now it is set to Turbo)

Hi, does anyone here with Gigabyte P35 DS3L flash their BIOS to latest ver, F5?

And is it much safer to flash during BIOS boot than using the windows utility?

bryanyeo: Thanks. Guess I will hold back on that bios flash first.

Anyhow, is the max speed of the stock fan 2000rpm? Off all the autofan setting already. Is there anyway to make it faster or thats the limitation of the cheapo fan?

Edit: OC'ed to 2.66ghz, during Prime95 test, the fan rise up to 2700, but I cant seem to find any control to lock it to 2700. Temp at 50% load, is around 60-62c, but the heatsink dont really feel hot at all. So is the Speedfan accurate or am I messing up the hsf installation (lack of contact)?

Hi guys,
After getting a pair of cheapo 800mhz Kingston ram, I got my 2140 running at 3.2ghz (8x400), no volt increment at all. Run orthos, and before 30 seconds, it goes above 70c and the pc auto restart. Due to heat problem I guess. Is this the limit of the stock hsf or am I messing up somewhere?
I'm using Gigabyte P35-DS3L.

Edit: Now Im just running at 2.4 (6x400), i didnt torture with Orthos for more than 1 hour. But I did finish Bioshock on this clock, no hang, no artifact, nothing. Just gaming, at 60% cpu is around 66-68c. Idle at 50-52c. Is this normal?

You get max of 65c on 3.2 OC? I must be seriously messing up somewhere. Perhaps I should remove the hsf and reapply AS5 again.

I left the bios to auto vcore. From speedfan the core 1 is 1.23, vcore2 is 1.87. Is this figure accurate?
