Which HSF are you on? Tested with at least 1:1 divider? if u've done tat, & no changes, probably u've got a walled CPU
*
erm... on stock HSF. but I see some of you guys can push to 3.0Ghz with stock HSF. yaya. I did tried with 1:1 divider. but still no luck.

QUOTE(Are_keem @ Nov 21 2007, 01:18 PM)
same like mine, but mine can't pass through 390 x 8 although had loosen the timing and pump 1.5V vcore.
confirm not caused by temperature though. the RAM divider had been set to 1:1 but still cant pass 390FSB.
maybe got fsb-walled processor.. sad.gif
*
aiks.. but at least you can push to 390*8. mine only 350*8. cry.gif

this conroe L or e21xx series has known fsb wall issues.. as we can see, these processors has almost same performance as the c2d, besides the 1mb l2 cache.. but many e21xx processor failed to go past 400fsb at any multiplier.. whatever u set, it might just max at around 389fsb..

i've tried 3x e2160, 2x e2140 and only 2 ( 1x e2160, 1x e2140 M0) of them manage to go beyond 400fsb..

i think there is a reason why Intel decides to use pentium dual core name.. instead of c2d..

hi, what BIOS version is on you guys P35 DS3 motherboard? I faced a problem, I can only push my E2140 to 350*8. cant boot up with anything more than 360*8 even with 1.4vCore. I'm using Crucial value ram (D9) and I did set the ram timing to 5-5-5-15.  what is the problem? would updating the BIOS would solve my problem? currently F5 BIOS with my motherboard.

Try bios F4, because it seems to have better OCing capabilities, unless of course, you need the bios update to solve some bugs la biggrin.gif

If you set your ram timings to 5-5-5-15, did you set it in bios or via windows using memset?

i think trying diff bioses wouldnt help much in ur OCing. perhaps it will jus improve ur memory OCing, but not the CPU ocing itself

Ok guys, suggest me a godly but cheap mobo. Fancy stuffs not important, as long as it has plenty of BIOS-based tweaking menu. I could care less about heatpipes on-board.

Gonna build a system for photo editing and video encoding, and of course with a healthy dose of OC.

seems that the cheap choices revolves around the P965 or P35 chipset boards.... either Gigabyte DS3 series or Abit P35-E will allow you to OC substantially... these board will cost you less than rm400... for sub 300 you could try the MSI 965 series.. but OC capability not really good...

changed mobo to ASUS P5K-E.

not as easy to OC as on Biostar TP35D2-A7. on the A7, just change BUS speed and that's it.

this one ah. aihh. doesn't seem to be stable if i do just that. so have to adjust Vcore / Vdimm. not sure if that's the cause but it certainly helps. aihhh.....

Abit IP35-e (rm320) or Gigabyte P35-S3L, DS3, DS3L ( rm340, rm390, rm370)

Not a fan of Bio, Power ATX location is bad. I will opt for IP35-e, cool looking, Heatsink @ Mosfets, and it overclocks well.. 500fsb no prob

Wow, perhaps as last resort, try stripping everything back and pasang balik . Pray that it POSTs.

Couldnt cause a total non boot symptom

Biostar is good!

I just change it because the P5K-E is rich in of features (costs nearly 2x the biostar), comes with crossfire for me to test out more options and of course - i didn't pay a cent for it! biggrin.gif

yes, test everything,
try using 1 stick on every single slot, still the same result.
wanna ask, my friend said it maybe caused by ram slot voltage short.
is there such thing? blink.gif
