tips? no tips la. i just put the processor in, set 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio and FSB change to 400 and that's it.

i don't touch vcore
i don't touch vdimm
i don't touch ram timing

biggrin.gif yup. just ratio and FSB only.
*
Not clean off the goop intel uses on thier hsf first and replace with Mx-2 ar? tongue.gif
Eh try oc higher, and go enter world record, current is 3.6/3.5 or so on air cooling biggrin.gif

QUOTE(baok @ Oct 18 2007, 01:50 AM)
not necessary...

i've encounter many times OCCT pass for 1hr or two hour (costum set) but failed orthos after 7-8hour sad.gif

and my E2160 at 3.2gig is fail me after 11hr of orthos!! shakehead.gif doh.gif so i think i have to bump the vcore until 1.475 sweat.gif if anything more than 1.475 i just happy to use 3.0gig only..
*
Hmm, duno wor...mine is the other way round, occt fails before orthos :S

whats the vcore of it when its 3.2ghz and orthos failed?

and orthos you select blend or other options? i selected mine as blend...

hi bro can help hre..?...for 2140 is supposed to be 200X 8..I set fsb to 250 but cannot see the increase..Use cpuid cannot see or the mb not respond  mb--BiostarP4M900
*
Normally via chipsets are not for ocing :S, you may try with clockgen to pump fsb thumbup.gif
and turn off C1E and EIST in bios

QUOTE(baok @ Oct 20 2007, 08:39 PM)
3.2gig @ 1.4625v orthos costum (up to 4096kb FTT lengt and 5min time.. costume from blend actually wink.gif ) - failed after 11hrs++ sad.gif
and over 20hrs stable at 1.475vcore.. sweat.gif

so i just happy to run it at 3.0gig @ 1.45

dont afraid ler to bump your vcore brows.gif
*
Use 1024 fft and 64 fft, let the cpu burn in first smile.gif
err...you sure you got the settings correct anot? abit high for a L2 stepping...maybe possible to lower the volts if some settings are changed brows.gif

QUOTE(Are_keem @ Oct 20 2007, 11:02 PM)
didnt dangerous eh?
wanna bump it to 1.5v and see what happen.
haha..

how about chipset overvoltage?
*
just make sure you up the correct one (NB) and not the (SB) tongue.gif and have active or good cooling on the NB

for value ram.. try to look at Kingston with either Hynix FP-Y5 or ELPIDA chipset.. but if you found Crucial Value Ram, grab that instead!! wink.gif
*
Look for Hynix FPy5 Rev C and on that same line there will be a batch code of 4 or 5 digits mix with alphabets, look for the following batches:

712A
714A Best of these 4 batches
714AA
704AA

Might be more better batches, but these are personally tested and 714A does 1066 5-6-5-15 1T with only 2.05v brows.gif

Make sure you get 2 identical batch coded sticks for best oc potential and stability

xigmatek is good. or you can opt artic freezer pro 7

gemini 2 also not bad

but zalman cpu coolers perform like crap for its price you pay for doh.gif

I left the bios to auto vcore. From speedfan the core 1 is 1.23, vcore2 is 1.87. Is this figure accurate?
*
not neccesarily, because at 1.87v, its probaly dead by now smile.gif

pls go and set the voltage to stock volts as listed at the bios, dont use auto, as it might unnecessarily overvolt the cpu

hi guys, regarding the core temp. I core temp 0.95.4. it shown me my core temp was 33 while my easy tune5 shown me my core temp is 24. which one is correct?  or just -15 degree from what the current temp 0.95.4 shown?
*
Core temp shows the hottest part of the core (basically on top of it la), whereas easy tune 5 shows the middle of the core and the temp will always be lower

Guys, what do you think of this board. GA-G33M-S2 for e2140 overclock. Running 24x7.  Which rams to get to 3.0ghz. value ram 667, will it do.

Any help appreciated.
*
G33 is shit for ocing due to the integrated gfx, at least compared to full fledged p35 boards la tongue.gif

At the bios menu press ctrl +F1 to bring up a special menu
Set the ram timings to your rated ram speed

change PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) [AUTO] to 100

CPU OverVoltage Control [Normal] <== Set to 1.325v

O.C. FSB1333 core.2 CPU [AUTO] <=== can u tell me what options are there under this menu?

Just wanted to get a 2.6ghz and I am happy, currently without OC the cpu temp is about 31C

O.C. FSB1333 core.2 CPU [AUTO] <=== Try setting to Disabled

That 31C is idle right?

yeah.. definately idle.. kekekeke. did not strain it. By the way I'm using built in vga.

Followed some of your example. and I did it.. I underclocked. smile.gif

I wonder why. I;ve set he timings to 4-4-4-12, 5-5-5-15 also no diff, actually what does the timing do.
*
Haha, ok, so try setting it to Enabled and up the CPU Host Frequency(Mhz) to 220 as a tester biggrin.gif
Timings are ram related smile.gif
Set to 1:1 divider

QUOTE(wodenus @ Nov 5 2007, 03:19 AM)
Voltage for what ? Is that a 1:1 ratio ? If you use a 1:1 ratio and you have good fast RAM, you might be able to push the FSB up quite a bit.
*
Mind trying 8x multiplier instead of 9x?

ok.. i'm thinking of getting another board for this E2140. Gigabyte G31MX-S2.  What do you guys think, need a matx board, along with 1gb 800mhz stick.
*
get gigabyte p31 ds3L its same like p35 ds3 with the exception of a older southbridge, its below rm 300 la

dont get a 1gb 800mhz its bullcrap

just get a 667mhz rated and ramp the divider higher or pump fsb

regarding waht you posted at #389, do you have eist or c1E enabled, if so then it was NOR underclocking its the power saving feature.

I look into it the board.. thanks for the advice. wanted to sell it off and buy the 6550. I was wondering why am I overclocking.. hehehe.

All your talk about NOR and C1E makes me feel like a noob. Whats that? Its not in the board.. probably the 945 gigabyte not good enough or does not have any of those feature.

I just read the review. it looks like a ATX board, was looking for a mini atx to clock
*
NOR was a typo for NOT tongue.gif

urm, it should be under power management or intgrated peripharals, its EIST (enhanced Intel Speedstep Tech) and C1E (same like c1E but Enhanced) turn those 2 off and try to oc it again biggrin.gif

This is getting so frustrating. I;ve already followed your steps. disable it. cpu host = 200 . system multiplier = 3.33 which equals 667 . SO basically its 200 x 8 = 1600 which is the default but i set manual but still will not boot up. ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH. I really do not know whats wrong anymore.

Do I need 2 stick of rams to overclock or 1 will actually work.
*
Aiks....duno how to help you ade :S
2 or 1 doesnt matter biggrin.gif
