sorry for bursting the bubble here, apart from all the pentium and legend stuff, will the E4300 BSEL mod work for the E2140/E2160?
*
do u mean the FSB mod?
never tried, but it probably work since all the core proc is the same, onli with cache cut

QUOTE(pedas @ Jul 15 2007, 09:00 PM)
guys, what's your E2160 idle temp on TAT (stock vcore)?... i think i hv prob bcoz my TAT showing nearly 60C on idle...
*
2160 Tjunction is 100C compare to other conroe Tjunction of 85C
jus decrease the recorded temperature by 15C and u get the real temperature
or use SpeedFan to read, Core0 and Core1 represent the true value of temperature of ur proc

i've got a problem ere...i hope somebody will help..
as you all can see on my specs below..i only manage to oc e2160 to 210mhzx9, that is a shame becoz this cpu can oc near 100%.. i donno whats wrong but at 211mhzx9, the screen goes blank..but it log on to windows..i know it has log on to windows by hearing the windows logon sound..is it faulty gc, mobo, ram, or my psu not 'strong' enough...
or maybe pci-e frequency setting not rite..try setting it ti 105mhz but also failed..

lot of thanx to somebody can help...
*
same mobo as mine
flash the bios to F10 or F11 something, i think previous version has issue with PCIE frequency overclocking

QUOTE(§layerXT @ Aug 6 2007, 06:26 PM)
Basically for gaming need, go for more cache capacity. From what I read,
Pentium-Dual core(which already reduced cache to 1MB) just on par with Athlon X2. So better go for AMD(for cheap overclocking rig).
*
around 3-4 frames difference in some games
almost every 21xx can reach 3 Ghz, while not every X2 at the same range can reach am i right? and a 3ghz x2 wont beat a 3ghz conroe, IMHO

QUOTE(rainingzero @ Aug 7 2007, 05:59 PM)
speaking of actual performance during gaming, will it give major diff between my cedar mill @3.4ghz 2mb cache with e2***/E4*** series??
*
yes it will, and it is very noticeable even with an unoverclocked conroe vs P4

QUOTE(cavcite @ Aug 12 2007, 11:37 AM)
ermm..meaning?cedar mill is better or conroe is better?due to cache? sweat.gif
*
i mean, conroe is way better than cedar mill, due to the architecture difference
even u never overclock ur conroe, there is always a big chance a 1.8ghz conroe will smoke a 3.x ghz cedar

here`s mine http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=228862
cant pass prime85..do i need to increase the cpu vcore?

atleast this one can run prime test http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=228873
*
add more vcore, jus make sure the temperature is ok, up to 1.4V is ok for stock heatsink i think

yeah. hehe. i suspect i was hold back by the Kingston chip. biggrin.gif

Added on August 18, 2007, 11:59 amok this is freakin' stupid. it took BIOSTAR 5 days to reply, they gave me a new BIOS but heck i'm not sure whether they understood what I was complaining.

I replied, I've not gotten any answer on the same day so heck. I decided not to wait. Made the effort to find a floppy disk and drive, updated the BIOS and ............... WTH, still the stupid RAM ratio.

aihh. me no happy la.
*
maybe u shud ask some bios modder to help u to mod the bios
thou i m not sure where can u find them sweat.gif

SLA93 e2140
with patriot value rams

ALL at Stock Volts

[attachmentid=282368]
@davidletterboyz
will do that but average wall i found out from this bunch of e2140's is about 370~390 @ STOCK VOLTS...not sure if upping voltages could help it =)
*
looks strong for M0, push it higher brows.gif

QUOTE(radmaszeal @ Aug 22 2007, 10:28 AM)
using a e2160 SLA3H or something. lol forgot. cant oc higher than 3.15ghz. suspecting ram limiting me. sad.gif and vista giving more headaches. will do more oc-ing after installing xp. no xp cd doh.gif. the best fsb:ram ratio is 1:1 ah? sorry noob question. lol. can get 1:1 ratio but SPD at 2.0 (whatever that means), 5-6-6-16, 668mhz ram. 3ghz oc. if 3.15ghz oc ram running at 5-5-5-15 forgot what ratio, either 5:6 or 3:5. need some sifu to help. but later la. headache with vista. lol.
*
higher memspeed than FSB giv unnoticeable performance increase imo, atleast i dun c any smile.gif
jus stick to 1:1, more stable and more oc room wink.gif
limit at 3.15? same as me laugh.gif probably batch limitation, i've tried numerous tweak but couldnt pass 3.15 sad.gif

Huh? I dont understand what you mean...lol
Anyways...what i mean is E21x0 has either L2 or M0 stepping tongue.gif
I still dont know if M0 is helping...like G0 for quadcore series...but then I heard M0 for E4x00 sux...some i have seen wont even reach 3GHz.
*
probably they are limiting budget lvl proc ocability? to boost higher end market
