E2140 cannot go that far without exotic cooling.

QUOTE(Snyy @ Jan 31 2008, 12:21 AM)
hi guys, thanks for the reply.  smile.gif  Just got my self a E2160  rclxm9.gif  after I sold my E2140 yesterday. Tried 333*9 @ stock vCore stable for 30min OCCT. but just now I decided to lower down the multiplier to found out what is the highest FSB can this E2160 do. so I tried 400*8 and I need 1.425vCore to get it stable. how you guys think my E2160 perform? Ok? normal? acceptable? any advice for me? thx.
*
Not a bad chip when compare to the average poor chip out there, quite nice. How much vcore does it take to stable at 400x9?

I've tried Gigabyte DS3L, Abit IP35-Pro and Foxconn Mars. If you want to pair your E21xx for a good OC, Gigabyte is your best bet. Don't ask me why because I can't seem to figure out why the other too doesn't do well with the E21xx smile.gif The love C2D's though.
*
For IP35 Pro,try increase NB,increase FSB voltage to 1.49v.

ok... earlier this evening, tried on 400x6 (lowest multiplier), same setting as i used on 400x8 (stock multiplier), successfully booted, increasing to 405x6, booted... raised again to 410x6, booted, raised up again to 415... doh.gif sad.gif, not booted at all... tried raise Voltage on VCore, VNB etc... not helping at all... is 410MHz is the wall? unsure.gif
*
That is about as high as non golden 21xx can go.E21xx all is around there.Only good batch can go beyond 400 so i will say your chip is actually good.Time to play E8400 brows.gif

Something like that.Board buy IP35E,Ram Good Value or Team Elite 667/800 and PSU use Strider 400W.Like that, you have a solid oc package.

The Hynix FP-Y5 was around 430+ FSB when I had it with my E2140. I'm not sure if it could go any higher because the processor was already about to max. out at that point in time.

I have go to DDR2940 before with FPY5 and an E6550 470 1:1. thumbup.gif

ya, i can see that reaching 100% OC isnt hard, but giving that the amount of Vcore i need to bump, i believe my load temperature will reach 80C. i really dont know why my temperature is that high even at 1.30V and 3.14Ghz, reapply thermal paste still the same. is this normal for the e2160 stock heatsink?
*
Get an Artic Frezzer 7 Pro,it is ok.Good HSF,should be able to handle 1.5v like that. thumbup.gif

E2 and E4 cache difference not huge and E4 is sucky overclocker.Take 1.4v to do 305x10! shocking.gif E21 to oc than E4.E2 or E8 is my choice.
