haha, it is good that you are looking out for the known issues  smile.gif

Grainy screens and leakages has always been a known issues in the inspiron & vostro line of laptops. Depending on your luck lor. 1520 & 1720 has other issues such as freezing in the BIOS screen and buzzing noise from the audio port, which non can be rectified so far until they release a rev for the BIOS or a reconstructed mobo. The most stable so far is the 1420.

If your looking for budget, RM4k ngam ngam you can get an all purpose machine with T7250, 2GB RAM, 8600 GT, 160GB HDD, 3yrs Dell Care Premium.  icon_rolleyes.gif

You mean 1420 got no problem??

Well, i want a 1520 because of the 8600 nvidia video card

Anyway, if dell can replace until i satisfied, i think i will still consider it

Whoever that did not buy any system yet, pls hold back your money till Xmas. Inspiron 1526 coming out. Running on AMD, slimmer than 1520 and has HDMI ... super cool z    cool2.gif

HOHOH

I decided to buy during that time

Good to hear that, anyway , is running on AMD consider as "Downgraded" ? Well, Intel sounds more powerful to me...

And other spec same as 1520? Like the 8600 video card?

Just some noob question

Why people still use XP when there are vista provided?

Is there any software that doesnt work on vista?

Is the speed slows a lot on Vista?

Is most of the games dont runs on vista?

Is the game speed slows down in vista?

I am gonna to buy 1520 with 2GB ram , duo core 1.5 MHZ , will that be not enough?

Check first if the memory slots are easily accessed to avoid problem during self installation. For Inspiron 1420, both can be accessed under the base.

How about 1520 and vestro?

this thread is kinda dead.. so let us make it live once more.. ahjaha..

hmm.. just make sure u get whats in the details given from Dell, check see the speakers working good, every buttons on the keyboard functioning well, touchpad is working good, etc etc lor.. slowly check 1..
*
Well , of course i will check that , but what i meant is some 1520 common problem that normally people wont discover it by the first look , like grainy screen , which normally is not as obvious as the speaker is not working

Hi

I got my 1520 yesterday , and i was kind of dissapointed that the screen , although its 1280*800 , but the screen looks "not like 1280*800"

Err.....how to say? , i would say , not clear.

I watch the dvd on it , and i found that the edge of the picture is not as sharp as the one i watch on my pc monitor , is this normal? Or this is the legendary "grainy screen"? No dead pixel , i check for a few times already.

Ya , what blue tooth type it support? I search in the website , and found nothing.

And , is all the Cds given contain the lastest driver? And they install the latest driver? How to check whether there are newer version?

Well , so far i dont have lagness on my 1520 , because i am using 2GB Ram , will vista SP1 reduce the usage of the RAM?

And how to improve the Graphic card performance? I heard that this has to do with the driver, and no overclocking....

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

if the pixels are smaller it might be alittle harder to notice the grainy screen..

dunno how to explain also.. register urself here and theres pictures showing the grainy screen problems..

Thanks dude , rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Well , i cant see clearly whats the difference in the pic, but anyway , i guess i know what is "Grainy"

To me , its simply means "not sharp as it should be" , A dvd movie played like a VCD , its obvious a "grainy screen"

Thats the problem when we have a "hot babe" with us laugh.gif
By the way, the cooler wont help much as well, unless you are inside an aircond room, or else under a blasting fan.
Unless u can get a cooler with strong blasting fans, extremely strong blasting winds, if not our laptop is way too hot for the cool pad to give any much effect.
i suspect is overheating as well coz when at cool places she wont show that at all
*
Strong blasting fan cant be achieved with a usb. Seem like i should consider a plug version of cooler

Well , after a week of using it , i have no problem with it , but still there is some flaws.

1) The heat problem : My game always crash after about an hour of game play

2)The earphone : Buzzing sound heard when i insert the earphone , I called Dell , and hopefully they will come on monday ( They say will replace the parts for me )

3) The screen: A bit of light leakage , not a big problem , but still....its a problem

4)Picture Quality : This is a question for all 1520 users , i watch DVD movies and DVD riped mkv files on it , and i find that, the edge of the picture is not sharp , i wonder you all encounter this problem? I called Dell already , if this is a problem , i can tell them to fix for me.

I test the same source on my PC , and it looks great ( Normal ) to me , but on the laptop , even the screen size is lots smaller ( My pc screen is 19" ) , the picture quality still sucks . I am confusing , what is causing his problem? Because when i use HD source , the quality seem fine to me....

PS: Honestly , i still dont know what is "grainy screen"..... is the 4th problem is " Grainy screen"?
