this 10% promo has been running since 2018 when they introduced their app in Klang Valley. they kept extending it.

time to test your usual petrol card and see if it gets cashback.

if not, then the bank depends on specific petrol brand name, e.g. PETRONAS, rather than MCC.

guess maybank also identify based on "merchant descriptor" name, e.g. PSS or Petronas. somehow they (still) dont qualify "Setel" as eligible txn.
