You got yourself a manual one hole core aerator.

Works out fine if you have a small lawn

Just to elaborate my previous reply, it doesn't matter dry or wet condition, it punctures even the most compact soil.

To remove, just hammer sideways, the tool loosens out in one hit.

Fair enough, that's a decent aerator but not enjoying the full benefits of core aerator
