I feel sorry for the players. They just want to play the game. Fucking VAR puts everything to shit. Now every time we look for a goal, we might be worried that it would be disallowed FFS 🤣

To be fair in all aspect, this is Lampard’s first season.

Yes, he did accept the managerial role knowing first hand the consequences of falling out of Top 4. And for what it’s worth, his familiarity with the club up to Abramovich increases our expectation even further during the early days of his appointment as our manager.

But, do take into account on the transfer ban (albeit only being applied until the January window). We definitely lack options, regardless on attacking-wise or defensive-wise, we are short on options. And to add to the series of unfortunate events, many of our top players are out injured for a good while.

For me, getting top 4 is definitely a bonus. We need to see this from a long-term perspective. Lamps is definitely trying to build something, that is for sure.

But for the next 6 fixtures... really hope Lampard could improve on his tactics. Maybe a 3-4-3 with Alonso, or 3-4-1-2 with 2 strikers up front to instil more attacking prowess to the team.

We need to win the Saturday match so badly 🙈

Btw, Arsene’s proposal on the new VAR law seems better and accurate imo. Hopefully the proposal can be accepted and applied in the next coming seasons. Current VAR kills the beauty of football, both for the fans and the players imo sad.gif

still not understand what the difference between his suggestion and current offside rule
*
As per The Guardian’s website:

“ What Wenger is suggesting, in his capacity as Fifa’s head of global development, is a slight variation on the concept of daylight between an attacking player and the last defender. The former Arsenal manager believes that, if any part of a player’s body that can score a goal is level or onside – i.e. anything except the hand or arm – he should not be ruled as offside, and we can stop chalking off perfectly good goals because an armpit or a big toe was millimetres ahead of the last defender.”

In other words, Giroud’s goal in the match vs ManU would have been counted as onside biggrin.gif

However, there are speculations saying that the real issue with VAR lies within the ‘remote refereeing’, which would still be there even if Arsene’s proposal as per above is applied sweat.gif

We are playing very well, bar that lapse of concentration by Caballero

For a second there, could see Rudiger and James have their own concentration-lacking moments, too sweat.gif

Finally can take a breather.. a win, and sweet 3 points biggrin.gif

Some talking points from tonight’s match:

Giroud seem to be better than Tammy (maybe he’s still gaining his full fitness?) but imo Giroud is more hard-working in getting/challenging for the ball, likes to assist the wingers as well, and in tonight’s match, he showed that he’s good defensively too. So for now, i think Giroud > Tammy 😬

The duo English midfielder, both played in the winger role tonight (Mount and Barkley). Both have the pace, and that greatly helped in our high-pressing tactic by Lampard. Kudos to him for that biggrin.gif

Christensen. With the head cover, it seems like he become better defensively too 🤣 have great several interceptions at the right time. Thank god he recovered from the previous match in time for this game. But then again wonder when Tomori will recover to full fitness, been missing that kid for awhile now

Lastly, Alonso. We all know full well he aint got pace 🙈 But, he justifies that with his attacking and crossing prowess. Lots of time can see him in the box eagerly to shoot, and finally got one for our second of the night biggrin.gif

All in all, it’s a good come back by the players from our previous defeats. It seemed as if we might be more suited to a high-pressing tactic, and 3-4-3 formation seem to work well, too.

Chelsea are a completely different team with these two in the middle! I love Kante but he lacks the quality and vision needed for our system to work! Jorginho and Kovacic as a partnership are a nightmare for our opponents! I think its time we sell Kante! RCL available and I think its time for us to sell kante with decent price tag.
*
Imo i think Lamps need to try and play Kante in his DM role once again, i.e. try to suit Kante’s best position in his tactics. Yes RLC is indeed almost to full fitness, but that’s two different position with RLC playing the AM. To straight away sell Kante because he’s not performing in box-to-box would be a bad idea imo. Say if he goes to another club and played in his preferred role once more, wonder if we will have another De Bruyne/Salah case again sweat.gif

I’d say, maybe we could try (against weaker teams lah first sweat.gif)a Kante-Jorginho-Kovacic combination with Kante deployed as the DM and see what happens biggrin.gif

3-4-3 or 3-5-2 with two strikers up front? Bit scared to watch tbh. Having mixed feelings for tonight’s match 😂

Formation sheet shown before the game tricked me sweat.gif

Imo, Willy has kept us level with Bayern so far, along with good performance by Alonso too. Quite a nervy first 45 minutes for me, let’s see how Lampard could adapt to this
