Barkley and CHO were piss poor in the 2nd half and somehow managed to finish the match. Yet tammy gets a swift kick to his confidence by being pulled off for giroud who did absolutely nothing, in fact we looked worse after he came on. Lamps needs to stop with his favourites, but above all he needs help organising that back four.

This is true. Positioning was totally out the window, that first half in particular was shocking. I mean yea it's bayern, but we couldn't even pull off some basic defending at times. Some have pointed out that our high intensity press is one of the main culprits, when they beat our press with the quality they have, we're left extremely exposed. However on that same note, if we had more composure I counted at least two occasions where we caught them out with that same press but our players just weren't good enough to take advantage. Give those same chances to them, and they'd probably take both, as can be seen when kovacic got dispossessed.

Yes we never getting through, but like you said it's just tactical naivety from frank, and it would've been nice to at least see him be more flexible and adapt to bayern's quality. A lower block and a more pragmatic approach would probably benefitted us more imo. Everyone would still get their chances, but tell them to focus more with helping out at the back and hitting them on the break,especially after seeing how bayern were approaching the game.

On a side note, conte lost the europa league final to sevilla, hmm felt a bit sorry for him, victor, and lukaku. Lukaku in particular, if you've kept up with the goals he's scored for inter, the man looks like the second coming of drogba at times. 34 goals and 6 assists in all competitions without winning any of them must really suck. Having said that, pretty sure he'll get his hands on serie A very soon.

Doubt gimenez arrives, his injury problems will be a huge sticking point in any negotiations imo. I'm sure we have the money to tempt atletico, but a short term signing would make more sense, since there aren't any clear / available targets at the moment. Thiago appears to be just the kind of player to come in and try to organise that backline,while teaching the rest of our CBs a thing or two.

Note: several sources reporting we're close to getting malang sarr on a free transfer from Nice as well, a good low risk signing. Someone probably leaves on loan if he goes into the squad though. Not sure what Frank's plans are for tomori, but it's wonderful knowing the board have been so proactive in trying to solve probably our biggest problem throughout the season, the defense. Mbuyamba, silva, and potentially sarr too. A very good mix of experience and future potential.

So unfortunate we have an extremely short preseason, I think with the sheer number of games/experience he has, he's got a good chance of impressing lamps and actually staying put. Looks like he'll be going out on loan though. All the best to him.

Can't believe his last good game was under sarri, it seems that injury has affected his mentality quite a bit. Maybe just needs a couple of goals to snap him out of it.
