Hi guys, I’m interested to buy a semi-D house which built around 70’s. But we found this on the backyard and the owner/agent said it is a sewerage. What I afraid of is this is a septic tank. Anyone seen this before? Thanks

why are you afraid of a septic tank? it is there to clean the water from your waste.

I have look at a backyard of an opposite house and found no such things. So I just wonder whether it is a septic tank that collect all the dungs/dirty things from the whole row of house.

Besides, why the owner don’t remove it when they extended the house to the backyard area.

Can we check from the Jabatan Air or something ?

Sorry I’m not sure about the septic tank issue until someone warned me. Do you think this is just an individual septic tank? Can we remove it and ask Jabatan Air to connect to their new main pipe system which nowadays common in new development ?

First off, no such thing as septic tank that is INSIDE the compound of ONE house will collect the waste from the WHOLE ROW of houses.

Secondly, wastewater or sewerage is under the purview of IWK, not Jabatan Air.

Why the owner never removed it when extended the house? Have you ever thought how to discharge the sewerage/wastewater if there is no septic tank?

Hi, so what you was saying is that it might be individual septic tank?

As this property is in East Malaysia, no such thing as IWK.

my parents old house have that individual septic tank as well, so once every 2 year the IWK will come and clean the tank for free
but when the house was rebuilt, we requested IWK to remove it

Yes, it should be individual septic tank. Apologies, didn’t know iwk does not operate there.

Any public sewerage lines u notice around the housing area? Can usually see manholes on the roads if there is a public sewer network.

I see. I also think that it is a septic tank but just hope it’s not a major septic tank that collect toilet wastage from the whole Taman!

By the way, may I know how much roughly for contractor and IWK charged for removing that septic tank and connect to main road? Thank you.
