That's because selling food as a business in western countries require you to comply with shitloads of health regulations. Those stuff cost a lot which is why they're expensive to operate on a small scale.

Here a lot of hawker and street stall apa pun tak comply. Open tepi jalan and pay your kopi dues and you're off to business.

Sohai TS, dont know how many people will now rage over this suggestion. London high income, earn uk pound. Your friend either student, convert from myr ofc expensive af. If working, sure income wont be high because transfer from developing country. Alot of locals here quite dim, listen to friend this listen to friend that, end up see the world in wrong way.

Also, you are not local you won't know cheaper places. KL very cheap meh? Outside of coffee shop, none is cheap. All above 10.

In London u still can get a meal for £1.. or if u go for normal harrod's lunchbox, £8.. it's just like RM8.

Dollar to dollar, people treat £1 in UK like RM1 in Malaysia..

depending on what u wanna buy lah

£30 also can get plenty already

basmathi rice is around £1.5 per kilo

our local rice also already around rm 2+ per kilo IIRC

I usually buy Jasmine rice.. Can get £5.50 for 5kg pack...

Usually I get like 3kg chicken thighs, 2kg pork, 12 large free range eggs, vege for the week.. all in less than £20 weekly enough for 2 people..
