Hi can anyone please suggest a cheap ebook reader or phone that can work as a reader?
I used an AMOLED phone before this as a dedicated reader and it was great because I read a lot at night. The black background really helps with eyestrain at night. But it is having a lot of random restarts lately and I think it is probably time to get a new reader. The phone is >5 years old.
How is the Kindlewhite when it comes to reading in near complete darkness?

LCD screens are ok but not so good at night. But how does the Kindlewhite or other e-ink readers fare at night? Especially those with built in lights?

Getting Started

|
I personally own a Kindle 5th gen without backlight and a Kobo Clara HD. If there is adequate lighting, I choose to read with the Kindle coz I can hold the screen without flipping a page. Otherwise, I'll read with the Kobo. I chose Kobo because it has a warm backlight.

If you read a lot, esp those paperbacks, I would recommend a Kindle. Else just stick with your tablet or hand phone.

Thanks everyone, I am going to stick with an AMOLED screen because of the night reading.
