Every time I go petrol station to refill in the morning, I will check and pump the tyre if necessary. (best time to check tyre pressure is in the morning)

When I was using the stock silverstones, I had to pump once every 2 weeks. After I changed to Michelin XM2+ (with alloy valve) in November till now, I only pump air once. And even that, very little reduction in tyre pressure.

Since you brought nitrogen up, I have a question from a retiree. Is it true that there are pump charges everytime for pumping tyres on nitrogen ?

I think 1 month is the sweet spot, those pump less than that, should go check your tyres quality. biggrin.gif

A good tyres should be able to hold the air for long period.

Between RM60-80 depending on the place you pump. Some will charge to topup but most don't if you are a regular customer.

normal air itself got 78% nitrogen. by going full 100% IMO only wasting money. yes there is some benefit but the most important part for a tire is to get proper inflation.

poor inflation will damage the drive, no matter what inside. using nitrogen only lengthen the period of checking pressure.

Nitrogen is lighter, some say better fuel economy and car performance but considering it is only 3-5% lighter I'm doubtful on this.

The other is it is less sensitive to temperature changes as well as it stays consistent once you pump it. Useful for those who always drives up to highland areas.

New car, during service they will pump for me. No point over pumping. Softer better for short distance in KV roads. If going long distance baru check pressure inc. pump spare tire.

Hmm you brought up an interesting point. Temperature changes. I wonder if the normal occurances of tyres bursting on big heavy vehicles especially on the highways is due to temperature changes at higher speeds than the approved speed limit for such vehicles ?

It is a possibility but more likely the reason is the tire is a badly worn retread aka celup tayar and frequently most lorries are overloaded by at least 30% of their maximum permitted axle weight.

lets say if people check normal air pressure once every 2 or 3 weeks, u can check ur nitrogen filled tyre once every 1-2 month.

thats it. unless u use car for racing or plan to store ur car for long time, using air would be economical.

The reason for that because I don't think I've ever seen pieces of burst tyres on trunk roads etc, but I have seen all of them pieces on expressway only, which is rather weird.

Even experienced it once on a bus. Went of like a gun shot from under the carriage. Luckily it happened to 1 of the back tyres. Later I asked the driver when we had came to a stop by the side of the expressway. "Boss, the exploded tyre was at the back, what if it was 1 of the 2 front tyres ? Does the company send you for training for that kind of situation ?" His answer "Pandai-pandai aje la."

That is external mia. Gotta remove it each time you pump, might suffer leakage over time due to frequent screwing and unscrewing.
Those internal ones have normal-looking tyre valve with non-pressurised external caps (normal type).

Did you trace the nitrogen hose to see if it is connected to the nitrogen cylinder or to the normal air compressor tongue.gif ?

If the teaching is pumping nitrogen, every single month....then something is wrong with the tyre as there is a leakage...with nitro...it should last much longer

When tyres are hot also can pump one. Just pump 2-4 psi more than your recommended rating.

Nitrogen is lighter, some say better fuel economy and car performance but considering it is only 3-5% lighter I'm doubtful on this.

The other is it is less sensitive to temperature changes as well as it stays consistent once you pump it. Useful for those who always drives up to highland areas.

When I was using the stock silverstones, I had to pump once every 2 weeks. After I changed to Michelin XM2+ (with alloy valve) in November till now, I only pump air once. And even that, very little reduction in tyre pressure.
*
same goes to my kapchai motor punya tyres

very old lauya kapchai some more

and i slap in Michelin good tyres tongue.gif

when use lauya chap ayam tyre, need to pump tyre every time go petrol station, and always tyre bocor (inner tyre balloon bocor), coz i always drive fast and brake fast, handling super bad also.

then after changed to good Michelin tyres, first few months like that everytime i go pump tyre, the air pressure is still exactly same, no reduce air at all lol...

after that i dun bother to pump tyre anymore lol... only pump when see tayar starting to kemek edi

1st time need pump i think is around 6th month after changed, just very slightly air reduce

after 1 year of usage need pump more frequently maybe due to wear and tear or old age edi, and handling starting to become bad maybe due to tayar keras dah x cengkam road edi
