How do you position your large monitors for gaming?

I find the old classic of setting the top of the screen to be the same level as eye level weird, as if it is only suited for small 14" CRT. And with TN/VA panels that gamma changes greatly with your eye position, you will need to tilt the screen (top of screen away from you) a lot.
Some e-sport websites suggest the eye level to be at the top 1/4 of the screen. That means I'll need to raise my screen to the max height.

Gamers of 27" and above, kindly share your experience.

TLDR: default stand does not support height adjustment.
